'Taylor has no idea' of PSC task

| October 4, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

Mike Taylor, the Republican candidate for a seat on the PSC in District 5, appeared here in Helena espousing grandiose, impractical suggestions to "jump-start energy growth" (Independent Record 09/30). This is a clear indication that Mike has no idea as to the responsibilities and authority of the Public Service Commission.

It is an agency with regulatory authority of utilities operating in Montana, subject to federal laws in many cases. Of course, Mike's private energy development suggestions are totally impractical, as stated by his Democrat opponent, Ken Toole of Helena.

I have been in the Legislature when Taylor was also a member, and I find little or nothing in his experience or education to qualify him to serve on the PSC. This is a technical position that requires experience and education to serve effectively. Ken Toole has those qualification, and Mike Taylor does not. We need a practical person not someone off in "lala land."
