Tester ad should be withdrawn

| October 4, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

I note the new Jon Tester ads accuse Conrad Burns of not protecting our military due to a vote against providing them adequate protective flak jackets. Jon Tester wouldn't know a flak jacket from a sack of organic peas. The ad is an out and out lie and should be withdrawn. Conrad Burns would never put in jeopardy the lives of those serving in our military and protecting the United States. Conrad has been there and loves this country. Jon Tester's interest for those fighting the war on terrorism is the help they might give in his election. Once elected, he will drop them in a New York minute, and that's pretty fast. The closest Tester comes to showing support for our military is his haircut.

The Democrats oppose the war on terror and are too weak to win it. They show little support for our troops, oppose the Patriot Act, warrantless wiretapping, etc. They want to cut and run and Jon Tester will fit right in.

What do the Democrats believe in? Partial-birth abortion, gun control and more personal regulation on almost everything we do. Also more taxes. They won't renew the Bush tax cuts of 2001 (which will result in a $2,000 tax increase), and have plans for additional taxes on us. This will be right up Tester's alley as he is a proven tax increase advocate with a tax and spend history second to none, including his opposition to repeal of the outrageous death tax.

Conrad Burns has brought many benefits to Montana and its people. He supports our troops and the war on terror. He voted for the Bush tax cuts in 2001, the Patriot Act, detainee bill and others. He supports renewal of the Bush tax cuts. He opposes tax increases, gun control and partial-birth abortion. He loves Montana and is a great asset to us. Let's send Conrad Burns back for another terror. He halls of Congress are already contaminated with left wing liberals, let's not send more.
