Vandals steal Valley View road signs

| October 12, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

Some of the road signs in Valley View have been taken and I was wondering if anyone seen them do it. They even took the time to unscrew the screws on some. The Pend d' Oreille Gleaners 4-H Club worked hard on this project to make road signs for all the intersections in Valley View to help the emergency and delivery vehicles and the public.

And you, the thief, should be ashamed of yourself to take a board that can help so many people. If anyone saw someone taking them or if they have them in their home or bedroom could you return them? And if the signs were burned in a fire at a river party, you must be so proud of yourself.

The club worked hard to get donations and also used their own money to do this project. Some day when you do something you are proud of and someone destroys it, you [may] think back and maybe think how uncaring you were. It may not mean anything to you but it meant a lot to the kids that made them.

It is amazing how someone can get a thrill by taking a board. Please return them if you have them, or if you know who has them please let me know. The signs taken were from intersections of Forman Road-Apple Road, Buffalo Bridge Road-River Breaks Road, River Breaks Road-Eli Gap Road.

Any information on who took them would be appreciated. Maybe the neighborhood watch program could watch for vandalism at the road signs also.
