CHARLO— The Vikings came out strong on Friday night in their homecoming game as they faced off against St. Regis taking control of the game from the start and putting one more in the win column, improving their record to 3-3 as they breezed to a 52-12 win.

"We got back in the saddle tonight," head coach Steve Love said. "We came out with some emotion and it produced five turnovers on defense, we swarmed to the football and I was real happy with our pursuit."

TJ Kerr had nine carries for 66 yards and one touchdown while Cody Nitschke had 10 carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Clay Hoyt recorded five completions out of 11 attempts for 61 yards with one TD completion. He also ran in a TD on a one yard sneak.

"On offense we still had some mental penalties that we have to change," Love said. "It is way too late in the season to be offsides or line up in the neutral zone. Clay did a solid job at quarterback though."

The Vikings' defense was really meshing as they were able to hold St. Regis to only 12 yards, with Jean Paul Toussaint with six tackles two of them being for a loss. He also blocked a punt and batted down a pass. Jake Herak had five tackles with seven assists with one interception, and TJ Kerr had nine tackles with one interception.

"Jake and TJ pounded their way to a real balanced rushing game. We did run the ball pretty well and some young kids got some quality experience," Love said.

Charlo is now sitting at 3-3 on the season with two games left. They are in the middle of the conference, fighting for the last playoff spot. The Vikings face off against Lincoln on the road this Saturday at 1 p.m.

"We have to finish strong to get it," Love said of that last playoff spot.
