Tired of Burns' 'shameful' campaign
Editor,
Many of us are tired of the "shameful" campaigning that defines the Burns campaign. His ads are inflammatory and dishonest. They state that Tester is backed by extremists who want to close bases like Malmstrom. They're referring to the Council for a Livable World, a 44-year-old organization whose board is chaired by former national security officials and military officers. The Council has never called for the closure of any specific military base, supports more spending on body armor, and supports withdrawing from Iraq as "expeditiously as possible."
Tester recognizes that staying the course in Iraq is as bad an idea as a driver who mistakenly got on the wrong road, is headed for a cliff and continues on the wrong road. Burns' ads also say Tester is backed by environmental extremists. They're referring to the national League of Conservation Voters and the Montana Conservation Voters. The national League opposed the 2005 federal energy bill because it contained too many tax breaks for oil and gas companies and not enough for renewable energy sources. In these days of outrageous prices at the pump, it is imperative that we elect someone like Jon Tester who has already proven himself with an overall score of 75 from the Montana Conservation Voters for supporting hunting and fishing rights, and renewable energy laws.
Jon Tester is a man of integrity in the highest sense of the word. Let's bring in a better era for all of us by voting Tester into the U.S .Senate.
