Burns is important to Montana
Editor,
Senator Conrad Burns is important to Montana
No other group during this election period has demonstrated this more than the Democratic party. The Washington Democratic party has made large sums of money available to the Montana Democratic party for the ouster of Sen. Burns. Democratic operatives have been sent to Montana to help orchestrate a campaign again Sen. Burns and a man called Jon Tester was put up as a candidate to replace Sen. Burns.
All this clearly shows the urgency the Democratic party has to try and remove a man from the U.S. Senate who has proven himself firmly on the side of the people of Montana, whether it be improving education, protecting the environment, or bringing industry and high tech jobs to Montana. The strength and economic base of Montana depends on Senator Burns for this reason.
He has stayed actively engaged with local industries that have kept Montana strong — the Montana Farmers Union, Montana Farm Bureau, Montana Beef Growers Association, Montana Grain Growers, Montana Independent Bankers Association.
Conrad Burns is a high ranking U.S. Senator with a well established seniority to continue supporting better education, lower taxes, bringing affordable health care and more jobs to Montana, in addition to helping to develop legislation to close our borders to all people who attempt to cross illegally.
During a recent public debate with Senator Burns, Jon Tester represented himself as he is — he gave inconclusive answers to questions about Montana's future and misleading statements about his party's true stand on security, environmental and social issues both for Montana and the nation.
Jon Tester has a great smile — but not the depth of vision, nor the strength of conviction to replace Senator Conrad Burns.
