Gun owners, hunters endorse Folsom

Editor,

The Montana Shooting Sports Association (MSSA) has endorsed Maria Folsom as the best candidate for gun owners and hunters for the race in the November general election for Senate District 8.

MSSA is the primary organization asserting the right to keep and bear arms and the rights and prerogatives of hunters in Montana. MSSA routinely obtains passage of pro-gun and pro-hunting legislation by the Legislature.

Maria Folsom has been endorsed by MSSA because she is clearly the best candidate in November to represent gun owners and hunters of Senate District 8. We highly recommend Maria to the voters of SD 8 in the general election. We think the right to keep and bear arms and hunting are important in Montana. MSSA voters in Montana who agree with us about these important rights should know that Maria will certainly be the best general election candidate to represent our shared convictions.

We believe it is important to elect people to public office in Montana who believe in the rights reserved to the people by our constitutions, state and federal, and especially our right to keep and bear arms, and who believe in our cherished heritage and culture of hunting game animals. That means electing people like Maria Folsom to public office.

For the general election, MSSA only makes endorsements where it has specific information to show that the endorsed candidate is clearly the best choice for gun owners and hunters. Out of 249 candidates in legislative races for the general election, MSSA has made endorsements of 84 candidates. Information used for evaluating candidates includes voting records of incumbents, candidate surveys returned by candidates, and other available information.
