The core of the sun is estimated to be roughly 27,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit. And while that might seem pretty hot, it's nothing compared to the Ronan hoopsters.
The Chiefs served notice last week that they are one of the teams to beat in the Northwest A this season after pouring the points on at the Whitefish Tip-Off tournament and beating two of the top teams in the Southwest A—Stevensville and Frenchtown—on Friday and Saturday.
The Chiefs will travel to St. Ignatius this Friday to take on the Bulldogs, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
They will also travel to Hamilton on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.
Ronan 70, Stevi 55
The Chiefs busted out a 27 point fourth quarter against Stevensville, a team projected to finish in the top two in the Southwest, en route to a 70-55 win on Friday. Stevi took an early 20-10 lead but in the second quarter Ronan caught fire, outscoring the Yellowjackets 60-35 in the final three quarters to claim an emphathetic vicotry.
Nolan Harris hit four 3-pointers in the game and finished with a game-high 20 points. Mike Fisher and Moss Tanner also hit double-digits scoring, as Fisher finished with 15 points and Tanner had 12.
Ryon Hesselgesser added eight points, Kyle Hendrickx had nine, Makenzy Kelch had four and Jordan St. Clair scored two.
Ronan 89, Frenchtown 74
The tempature continued to rise as the Chiefs averaged better than 20 points a quarter en route to a dominating 89-74 victory. A 35-point fourth quarter by Frenchtown saved the score from being even more lopsided, as the Chiefs built a 61-39 lead heading into the final frame.
Nolan Harris had another fantastic game, dropping 26 points on the Broncos. Moss Tanner also hit the 20 point mark and Mike Fisher added 15 points to the mix. Jordan St. Clair also hit double-digits, scoring 13 points and Kyle Hendrickx added five.
