Church closing is the real tragedy

| December 20, 2007 12:00 AM

Editor,

It is always such a tragedy when a church closes after being in a community for over 60 years. I was very disturbed after reading the article "Organization scrambles to find home for Sharing Place and Food Bank."

No place in this article did it even mention the purpose of any church or ministry in that church, which is "evangelism." Victory Worship Center began in the blazing fires of Pentecost, but what do we see today? Take a few moments to read from Acts 2:44-47.

Along with anything done in any church there has to be a clear Gospel witness. The good news down through the ages is that Jesus saves, keeps and satisfies. Did anyone come to that place of saying "I need a personal relationship with the Lord?"

What about becoming a part of the fellowship? What about, "What this world needs is Jesus?"

Let us look again at what is really important.
