Iris Louella Page
ST. IGNATIUS — Iris Louella Page, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt went peacefully into the hands of God on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.
She was born Oct. 4, 1913, in Hollenberg, Kan., the daughter of Edward Allen Correll and Carrie Louella (Foster) Correll. She graduated from Garden County High School, Osh Kosh Neb..
Iris married Chester Page Dec., 13, 1932. Chet was bedridden the last seven years of his life and Iris lovingly took care of him at home. They were together until his death March 28, 1988, in Longview Wash. They homesteaded in Phon, Mont., where their first daughter Allie was born. Chester and Iris had four children Allie (John) Hitz, Darrell (Ruth) Page, David Page and Carol (Daniel) Wentz, 15 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren.
Iris moved many times in her life, moving for the last time in 1994 to be with her daughter Allie Hitz, her granddaughter Janell Underwood and her great-grandsons Zachary Underwood and Justin Underwood. They all lived on the same piece of property and spent many happy hours together gardening, barbequing and helping each other. Iris delighted in watching the comings and goings at the Underwood house and was a large part of all they did. Allie, especially, was the person who allowed Iris to remain at home for the final years of her life. She took her mother to many appointments, the grocery store, church and many other places. They went on vacation to Long Beach, Washington, Yellowstone Park, Glacier Park and other places.
When Iris moved to St. Ignatius she immediately looked for a church. When she walked into the Christian Missionary Alliance Church she felt like she was home.
The congregation was precious to her during her time in St. Ignatius and was a true family to her.
During her final years Iris was frailer and everyone was anxious to help her continue to attend church. Many Sunday mornings her daughter Allie would take her to church and Rick and Paulette Marquart would bring her home. There was always someone ready to help her along and she loved everyone.
Iris is preceded in death by husband Chester Page, son David Page, son Darrell Page, grandson Curtis Page, grandson Aaron Wentz and grandson Brian Burr. She was excited about when she would “graduate” and get to see all her loved ones again. In the months before her death she had dreams about Chet building her a log cabin in heaven.
Our mother, grandmother, Gram leaves a big hole in our lives and will be sorely missed. We are so grateful for the time we had with her and know she is happy in her weed-free garden with Grandpa.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home, Polson.
