Let's see how Jore affects our State

| January 4, 2007 12:00 AM

Editor,

I am a college educated, happily married individual. I am a registered Republican, proudly served a tour of duty in Viet Nam as a US. Marine, worked for 25 years as a police officer, love living in Montana and find myself offended by the trite and bigoted rationalization Mr. Donohue used to speak on Mr. Jore's behalf.

I did not vote for Mr. Jore nor do I believe we would agree on many issues, but I do believe in our democracy and respect his right to work for those issues he believes are valid. His electorate will decide his merit at the next election. But if Mr. Jore believes like Mr. Donohue that learning sensitivity for someone unlike yourself is a wasted goal of education or will result in some sort of personal contamination as one grows older, then I have pause for concern.

In our democracy we have many different views on all subjects including religion, race, economics, and education. Not all liberals, conservatives or whatever believe one thing and for Mr. Donohue to say liberals get educated beyond their intelligence shows that he missed getting educated at all. Closed and intolerant minds are what lead people to actions producing many of our current problems, locally, nationally and globally.

I do not believe Mr. Jore is closed or intolerant and am interested in seeing how his approach to his job affects our State.
