Helen Jenette Dachs

HELENA — Helen Jenette Dachs, 82, died on Jan. 2, 2007, at her daughter's home in Helena, surrounded by her loving family.

Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be said on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. and a memorial service will be held Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. Both will take place at St. Mathew's Church, Kalispell.

Helen Liming was born on March 8, 1924, to Leslie and Goldie Liming. She was raised in Logansport, Ind., and attended schools there, graduating from Logansport High School in 1942.

After working for a brief time at Muehlhausen Spring Corp. in Logansport, Helen served for the U.S. Navy as a WAVE during WWII (1944-46). While she was stationed at a naval air base in Memphis, Tenn., she met her future husband. After a brief courtship, Helen married George R. Dachs on Dec. 29, 1945, becoming life-long partners sharing 61 years. They had five children.

Before settling in Kalispell in 1954, Helen and George lived in Deer Lodge for two years and then moved to Lincoln, Neb., for six years while her husband attended dental school.

Helen enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, sewing, playing bridge, dancing, playing tennis, playing cards, doing needlework, being at Swan Lake on the weekends, fishing, bird hunting, and sharing time with family and friends.

Helen will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Survivors include her husband, George R. Dachs; two daughters, Cherie L. Shevlin (Joe) of Helena, Nancy A. Posivio (Bill) of Ronan; one son, David D. Dachs (Maureen) of Kalispell; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Goldie Liming; two children, Kathleen Dachs and Terry Dachs; and four siblings.
