Kicking Horse prom was a joy to work

| March 1, 2007 12:00 AM

Editor,

We thank the staff, students and student government officers of the Kicking Horse Job Corps for giving us the opportunity to be part of their “dream” to have a prom at Kicking Horse Job Corps.

We commend the dedicated student government officers for the many hours of planning, decorating and cleanup. They were a talented, kind and considerate group to work with. Mannerisms and language of the students need to be complimented. In our many hours of meetings and working with those students, we were respected and made to feel welcome.

We saw 30+ students waiting for 30 minutes to an hour in the rain and cold to enter the prom building as final preparations were made. We were told that of the 200 students on site, all but 23 dressed up and attended the prom.

One of the students explained to us that for a student to be enrolled at Kicking Horse Job Cops, all legal problems need to be resolved and there is zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol.

Thank you, Kicking Horse, for a wonderful, uplifting experience.
