School safety should be top priority

| March 1, 2007 12:00 AM

Editor,

The safety of our school should be a number one priority in our community. The community should not feel uncomfortable about sending their children to their local school. But unfortunately I know my parent does.

I know my father now no longer feels that I am safe at the school I attend. He and a few others know for a fact that I was verbally assaulted by my school’s basketball coach.

I myself wonder why a school role model would do such a thing. I do feel an uncomfortable presence in my school’s environment.

I have hoped others have not received this kind of treatment in my school but I know there are. I know these people are strong enough to stand for themselves. I do not appreciate this kind of treatment from some of my school’s staff.
