Marchello is Polson's new mayor
Lou Marchello emerged victorious out of the three mayoral candidates seeking the four-year term as mayor of Polson.
Unofficial results showed the Polson businessman had 327 votes to Mike Lies' 244 and Nathan Pierce's 175. Official results will be released later this week, and these numbers are typically subject to slight changes.
Lies, a former Polson mayor, led the candidates in Ward One with 57 votes to Marchello who got 46 and Pierce 43. In Ward Two, Marchello, a former councilman, was a big winner with 165 votes compared to 66 for Lies and 48 for Pierce.
In Ward Three Marchello nosed out Pierce 121 to 116 and Lies ran third with 84.
Duford wins council seat
The two-person race for city council in Ward Three was really close as Elsa Duford edged former councilman Dan Morrison by a mere seven votes, 166 to 159.
James Sohm and Thomas Jones were unopposed in Wards One and Two, respectively. Sohm received 110 votes and Jones 249.
Ronan results
At Ronan, the race for the four-year council term in Ward One went to Paul Soukup who defeated Daryl Kerr, 47-32. Penny Ross was unopposed for the two-year term in Ward One and received 71 votes.
In Ward Two Calvin Hardy was unopposed for the four-year term, receiving 80 votes.
Ann Brower was the winner of the four-year term in Ward Three with 67 votes. Her write-in opponent, George Finkle, received five.
St. Ignatius results
Charles Gariepy, unopposed for mayor, was automatically elected for four years. He received 102 votes.
In the at large town council position, Marine Johnson edged Ray Jensen, 92-84.
Elected to the two two-year openings on the town council were Rod Arlint with 92 and Amy Mller with 77 votes.
Pablo-Lake County Water & Sewer District
Walter C. Gainan, with 72 votes, and Britton W. Salois with 64, were both elected to four-year terms as district directors. They were followed by Alf B. Salway with 38 and Deborah Pittsley with 32 votes.
