Fireman on Valley Creek Road faced rattlesnakes, too

| October 4, 2007 12:00 AM

Editor,

The wildfire here at North Valley Creek Rd., controlled by the Arlee Fire Department and Confederated Tribes Fire Control, was not a very fast or hot fire, but one fireman found himself in the middle of a nest of rattlesnakes! Thank you to everyone for your efforts.

We are grateful to Bob McCrea, too, for leaving a crew overnight.

Barbershop chorus presented a wonderful concert

Editor,

We thank the Whitefish Credit Union, Glacier Bank, Soroptimist Club, St. Joseph Retirement Community, Valley Bank, Insty-Prints and Wal-Mart for sponsoring the barber shop concert. It was a wonderful concert and we enjoyed it immensely. We enjoyed a fun, lighthearted evening made up of a variety of well known songs.

We encourage all members of this fine community to take advantage of these opportunities. It was evident that a lot of time and effort went in to putting on this concert for our community and it was a shame that there were only 50 people there to enjoy it. It is our sincere hope that this will not deter the sponsors from trying it again and giving our community the opportunity to enjoy our local talent.

St. Andrew’s Church rummage sale successful

Editor,

Thank you, Polson and surrounding communities, for making the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church rummage sale a success on Sept. 14 and 15. Left-over items were distributed to a multitude of charitable organizations, helping spread our outreach to many.

Mission Valley Shelter needs everyone’s help

Editor,

Am writing concerning the Mission Valley Animal Shelter.

They need everyone’s help. This has been a great asset to the community, caring for unwanted, stray animals, etc. The shelter survives on donations, so get out your check books!

Maybe some more of the businesses and even the Tribal services could donate.

I am sure a lot of the animals have come from Tribal members.

It would be a great loss if the Mission Valley Animal Shelter has to close.

There has been a lot of hard work and a lot of hard working volunteers to keep it going, so let’s all give a little more.

I try to support it, even from here in Arizona, so you local people sure should be able to donate, also.

Thank you.
