Lady Vikings improve to 3-2

What a difference a week makes.
The Charlo Lady Vikings rebounded from a tough start to their season with two big wins over Drummond and Superior last weekend, moving their overall record to 3-2 and giving a young team some much-needed confidence.
"We played much better this week," said head coach Bonnie Perry. "We are really starting to look like a team. I think these two wins really boosted the girls' morale"
The Lady Vikes swept Drummond for their first win last Thursday, Sept. 6, by a score of 25-21, 25-12, 25-12.
Sophomore Stephanie Maughan led the team with three aces and had 15 of Charlo's 21 assists. Megan Harriman slammed seven of the Lady Viking's 21 kills and had three blocks. Stephanie Murphy added six kills and senior leader Staci Stipe had 12 digs, leading the team in that department.
On Saturday the Lady Vikings overcame a two game hole to beat Superior in five games, 3-2. After falling in the first two games, 19-25, 23-25 the Charlo ladies showed what they were made of and won the final three games, 25-13, 25-20 and 15-9.
"I am so proud of the way they really pulled together this week," said Perry. "I hope this is a sign of good things to come."
Stephanie Maughan led the team with six aces and 11 of Charlo's 24 kills. Megan Harriman added six kills and Staci Stipe had 39 of the Lady Viking's digs. Jaris Kelley added 15 digs and Stephanie Murphy had four of Charlo's 11 blocks. Justine Morigeau led the team in assists, getting 12 of Charlo's 24 for the game.
Charlo will travel to Noxon on Friday to take on the Red Devils and will take part in the Philipsburg tournament on Saturday.
"They are looking forward to the match up against Noxon on Friday," said Perry. "We also head to the P-Burg Tourney on Saturday."
