Arlee has long weekend of duals

SUPERIOR — On Thursday evening last week the Warriors split dual matches with Florence and Thompson Falls. The Warriors lost to the Florence-Carlton Falcons 46 — 30 in the Arlee High School gymnasium. The warriors were out-wrestled in six of the weight classes, but picked up wins by Jake Trujillo at 119 where he defeated Zack Newberry of Florence in a 7-4 decision. Warrior Cole Rice at 135 lbs., and Jordan Lefler at 140 lbs., both picked up pins against their Bitterroot opponents. Damon Cordier of the Warriors at 160 lbs. defeated a tough and experienced Terry Dautzman of Florence in a 2:25 pin, while Warrior Brady Potts at 171 lbs. defeated the Falcons Josh Marquart in a close 2-1 decision.

The Warriors on the same night also had a dual match against long time foe, Thompson Falls Blue Hawks. The Warriors defeated Thompson Falls by a score of 45 — 36. Warriors picking up wins included Logan Lefler at 119 who defeated Amber Fields with a 0:13 pin, while freshman Carter Clinkenbeard defeated Hawk Fratzke of Thompson with a 1:30 pin. At 135 lbs. Cole Rice of the Warriors, defeated Rod McKenzie with a 0:59 pin, which preceded Arlee’s Jordan Lefler pin of Zach Lyons with a 1:03 pin. The Blue Hawks won matches by pin at weights 145, 152, 160 before Warrior Freshman Brady Potts defeated last year’s Blue Hawks state placer John Garrison in the 171lbs. weight class with a commanding 12 — 5 decision.

On Saturday last weekend the Warriors traveled to Superior for the Superior Invitational Tournament. The Warriors placed sixth in the 11 team field at the tournament, and placed fourth in the medal round. Warrior Jake Trujillo defeated Eric Roe of Eureka in the 119 lbs. championship in a 5-1 decision to bring home the gold medal. Cole Rice of the Warriors did the same at 130 lbs. defeating Garrett Stephens of the Host Superior Bobcats by pin to bring back to Arlee the gold medal. Warrior Jordan Lefler at 135 pounds came home with the second place medal from the tournament. Lefler was defeated by Michael Beebe of St. Ignatius/Charlo in the championship by a 11-4 decision. Up and coming Warrior freshman Zach Tameler brought home the fourth place medal in the 125 pound weight class. Tameler defeated opponents from Frenchtown, Eureka and a team mate from Arlee before being defeated in the Consolation Final match by Superior Bobcat Mason Chatterly by pin.

This week the Warriors will travel to Superior on Thursday evening for a dual with the Superior Bobcats and Darby Tigers at 6 p.m. Then on Friday and Saturday the entire Warrior wrestling team will be attending the CMR Holiday Wrestling Classic in Great Falls. Wrestling begins at 11:00 am on Friday and Saturday at the Charles M. Russell High School.
