The Lake County Sheriff's office is investigating the death of a man who was found dead early Monday morning in Ferndale, and have ruled it a homicide.

Sheriff Lucky Larson originally labeled the death of 24-year-old Clyde Wilson as "suspicious," but said Wednesday that they've determined it's a homicide. Larson would not confirm published reports that Wilson had been shot, saying only that his investigators were still looking into the incident and would have more information later in the week.

"They've got some good leads they are working on, and we are in the process of turning the house back over to the family," Larson said Tuesday. "But right now we can only say it's suspicious."

Deputies responded to a 911 call shortly before 6 a.m. Monday where they found Wilson dead there. But the Sheriff's office did not provide any more details of the call, issuing only a brief press release Monday morning saying the death was suspicious.

Detectives Dan Yonkin, Mike Sargeant and Tara Ewers processed the scene all day Monday, joined by county attorney Mitch Young, and continued their investigation Tuesday.

Due to the New Year's holiday, the Leader's deadline was moved up, making it difficult to get more information on the case prior to press time. A full story will appear in next week's paper.
