Ronan-St. Ignatius athletes chug along to state

The Ronan-St. Ignatius track teams picked up strong performances from the usual cast of characters at the Northwestern A divisional track meet in Whitefish last weekend.
The Maidens placed fifth out of the event's six teams, finishing with a total of 54 team points. The Chiefs placed sixth with 37 total points.
The Maidens qualified four individual athletes in seven events for the State A meet in Bozeman next Friday and Saturday.
The team's 1,600-meter relay team also grabbed an impressive second-place showing with a time of 4:12.37.
Adessa Durglo claimed the only title of the meet for Ronan in the triple jump. Her mark of 33 feet and one inch was a full foot further than her previous personal best.
Sadie McMillan beefed up the team score, qualifying in four events for next weekend.
She tied with teammate Ishan Wylie for second place in the high jump with a height of four-feet, 10-inches.
A 100-meter time of 16.01 notched her a third place finish. She also added a third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.01) and a fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (47.94).
Wylie added to her high jump score by throwing a personal-best of 34 feet to take second in the shot put.
Lisa Larsson was the team's other individual qualifier, placing fifth in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 103-feet, eight-inches.
The Chiefs qualified five individual performers of their own, as well as their 1,600-meter relay team.
Jamie Engledrum was the team's highest finisher, posting a time of 15.86 to take second in the 110-meter hurdles. He also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.41.
Adam Skogen grabbed third in the discus by throwing an even 139 feet. He also finished fourth in the javelin, notching a throw of 158 feet and six inches.
Makenzy Kelch followed by taking fourth in the 200-meters with a time of 23.06.
Jake Durglo grabbed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet and four inches. Kevin Wroblewski added a fifth-place in the 3,200-meters in 10:53.30.
The 1,600-meter relay squad placed fifth in 3:37.28.
Danny Beavers finished sixth and will be an alternate in the 3,200-meters.
The top five placers and relay teams advanced to the State A meet.
