Louise Marie Villalovos

MOSES LAKE - Louise Marie Villalovos, 83, went peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Monday, November 3, 2008.

A member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe, she was the daughter of Felicite Delaware Big Knife and Gus Miller and was born at Shovel Camp - Arlee, Montana on July 11, 1925. Raised on the Flathead Reservation she received her education at the Urselines in St. Ignatius before going to school at Chemawa Indian School in Oregon. As part of the push to relocate American Indians to urban areas, her family was relocated to the Hartford /Tri Cities area but she returned often to her families' home in the Jocko.

She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Louise Finley, children Monica Villalovos of Yakima, Richard Villegas of Couer d'Alene and Pastor LeRoy Villegas of Lapwai, ID.

Survivors include her children Larry Villegas of Arlee, Carol Villegas of Seattle, Frankie Villegas of Moses Lake, Dennis Villegas of Polson and Corrine Villalovos of Seattle and brother Cliff Miller of Arlee as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also survived by many wonderful friends and neighbors for which are for ever grateful and wish many prayers and blessings upon.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 am in the Longhouse in St. Ignatius with Pastor Tony Smith of Lapwai, ID officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Jocko Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her mother.
