Monster Thanks for Monster Mash

| November 13, 2008 12:00 AM

Lori A. Russell, Polson

This is my second year organizing the Monster Mash Fun Run and I want to thank all of the people who helped make it a success. There were 207 participants, who ran or walked the 1-mile and 5k courses, and all ages and abilities were represented.

First, I want to thank the Monster Mash committee, Catherine Young, Donna Houle, Millie Nesladek and Chris McElwee. I also want to thank Mitch Young, who spent many hours to accurately determine the route and to set a safe and challenging course. Tana Seeley and Sarah Beck-Smith brought the timing and recording to an official level. Carolyn and Eric Hall graciously took on the chore of recording the time for each participant and Julie Young, Catherine Young, Sarah Beck-Smith, Lynn Speckert, Heather Davis and Tana Seeley efficiently recorded the individual results and made a special effort to celebrate the winners. A helpful crew consisting of Millie Nesladek, Mary Davis and Carla Farnstrom, as well as Christy Buffington and Chris McElwee facilitated check in and registration. The participants were safely guided through the course with the assistance of Becky Dupuis, Sharon McDaniel, Emily River, Micky Stanley, Sharidan Russell, Katie Kvam, Mark Russell, Bonnie Petersen and Margaret Arneson.

After the race Malika Cunningham graciously catered a chili lunch with the generous support of Super 1 Foods for the donation of 13 dozen rolls, the Polson Business Community for the donation of juice, and all those individuals who donated baked goods and chili ingredients. Donna Houle's hard work organizing the set up, serving, and clean up of the lunch with the assistance of Robert Farnsworth, Wendy Morin, Jennifer Hobbs, Rose Hickey, Jim Brandenburg, and Zach Houle, were appreciated. Thank you to all who helped and I'll see you next year.
