Car accident in Ronan injures six
RONAN — A three-car accident Monday afternoon in Ronan injured six people – two of which sustained serious injuries, said Assistant Chief for the Ronan Police Department Art Walgren.
Walgren said the driver who caused the accident swerved for an unknown reason on U.S. Highway 93 in Ronan. He said the accident is still under investigation, but the driver may have lost control of his car because of a medical condition.
Walgren said the driver jumped the curb at 3:55 p.m. and hit a vehicle in front of the Dairy Queen. The vehicle then turned around, jumped the curb again and hit another vehicle.
The driver’s car wound up in the Tribal Senior Center, where it proceeded to do donuts, and soon went into Spring Creek, Walgren said.
The driver of the car was life-flighted to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, and Walgren said he believes the driver suffered chest injuries. Another person was transported to the same hospital by ground ambulance, three others were taken to St. Lukes. One passenger refused transport, Walgren said.
Walgren said a hit car blocked traffic near Terrace Lake, but there was otherwise not much debris or traffic back-up.
