Jensen, Peder "Pete"
Peder " Pete" Jensen age 61 of Ronan, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008 surrounded by his family at his home in Ronan. He was born June 16, 1947 in Missoula, MT, to Millo and Fern "Bertelson" Jensen. He grew up and attended schools in Ronan graduating with the Ronan High School class of 1966. Pete served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War serving 4 years discharged in 1970. He returned to Ronan and attended Missoula Vo-Tech and received a forestry surveying degree, after which he returned to work at Arnie's Texaco. He married Marlena Parkey, January 1971 in Weatherford, TX.
Pete worked for Dick Wunderlich and Marvin Schiele before purchasing the Conoco station and started Pete's Conoco and later added Jensen Oil and AJ Carwash. He continued to operate the business until early 1990's. He built Suds-N-Duds in Ronan in 1999 and became Transportation Supervisor for School Dist #30, a position he currently held.
He was a former Boy Scout master, Baseball Commissioner, Airport Board member, Library Board member, Ronan City Council, Mission Mountain Country Club Golf Board, Pheasants Forever member, and a staunch supporter of Ronan Athletics. He loved biking, hunting, camping, taking care of his beautiful yard 4, wheeling and golfing. He truly loved Ronan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-Sigrid Jensen. Survived by his wife Marlena of Ronan, daughters- Jackie (Chad) Brooks of Helendale, CA., and Amy Jensen of Boise, ID. brother- Nels (Cathy) Jensen of Ronan, sister Hansine Zayauskas of Chicago, IL, as well as family members and friends. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to "The Wheels on the Bus Scholarship Fund for Ronan Graduates." It will be established at Community Bank-Ronan.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 2 pm in the Ronan High School with Pastor Rand Drollman and Rev. Karen McCrea officiating. A reception will follow services at the Ronan Community Center. Arrangements and cremation under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson.
