Palmieri, Evelyn

Evelyn (Evelina) Elizabeth Forgione Palmieri, 90. suddenly passed away at St. Patrick Hospital of pneumonia on Sunday, September 21, 2008.

Evelyn was born in Orange, New Jersey, November 13, 1917, to Fancesco and Carmela (Capowana) Forgione.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Steven W. Palmieri, wife Dolores (Nelson) and children Clarissa, Emily and Nicholas, and Patrick J. Palmieri, wife Marie (Truting) and children Patrick, Mark and Matthew; sister Margaret Cusack and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Patsy Samuel, Brother Michael Forgione and sisters Mary Perrella and Mildred Gerding.

Evelyn married Patsy Samuel Palmieri on Nov. 30, 1941, one week before Pearl Harbor. They resided in her family home in Orange, NJ until 1962 when they moved to Parsippany, NJ.

Evelyn retired in 1983 from Sears as a tele-typist in Livingston, New Jersey. She moved to Athens, GA in 1989 and then to Polson, MT in 2007 to be with her son Steven.

Evelyn was known for her delicious gourmet Italian food. She had a vivacious personality and loved to share stories about her life and her family. She was an avid sports fan, well read and kept a meticulous house. She travelled in Europe, Canada and the U.S.

Cremation was at Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory. A wake on Sunday Sept. 28 and funeral services on Monday, Sept. 29 were held at Ippolito's Funeral Home in Orange, NJ. A mass was held at Mt. Carmel Church with burial at Rosedale Cemetery with her husband Patsy.

An open house memorial hosted by Steven and Dolores Palmieri and family will occur on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 2-5, at 16 A Avenue, Evelyn's home in Polson.
