Convenience and sacrifice
Joe Darlington, Ronan
Imagine with me for a moment that because of global warming/climate change or the bird flu began to rapidly decimate the population of Canada, so that in just a few decades there was no one left north of our border. The media, governments, health and environmental organizations would be doing their utmost to stop such an event. Yet we have done the equivalent with our abortion policy in our own country with 45 million plus, gone.
We are like the proverbial frog in boiling water in Al Gore's movie. We have literally scalded to death 13 million more humans than the population of our northern neighbor.
China has done the same to roughly the population of the United States, with 300 million plus abortions. We live in a country where an eagle egg has more rights than a human, and one in four babies don't have the right to see their mother, much less their father.
Where is our media, our government and environmental organizations to rise up and say 'no?'
In our country, we have turned and hid our eyes from it because we have believed a lie. We have excused it, couching it in terms of "we don't want to put the health of women at risk." If we believe this, we believe a lie, for the argument defeats itself because fully 50 percent of those aborted are females who will become women. China doesn't bother with this line and uses the "health of the nation" excuse (read, population control) because 95 percent of abortions there are females. So they have tens of millions of essentially unmarriageable single men coming of age and an inverted age population pyramid incapable of caring for the elderly (U.S. News and world report).
Each hour now, we hear ads on the radio (saying) that if you vote for a certain candidate, you will put the health of women at risk.
A lie.
Though Obama approves these messages, he does not use the argument. When asked on the campaign trail about abortion, he stated that "I've raised my girls with morals, but if they make a mistake (get pregnant), I don't want them punished with a baby." So now a baby is not precious, it's a punishment, a curse and an inconvenience. No discussion of health at risk, no discussion of taking responsibility and having the child or giving it up for adoption or having the father raise it - just chop it out.
With this statement, he recognizes it is a baby at conception, yet at the Saddleback debate, when asked about this, he arrogantly said it was "above his paygrade."
Surely his salary as a senator that we pay ought to afford us the truth of what he believes. As a senator in Ill., he was the only one to vote 'no' on the 'Born Alive Amendment' (care for an infant born alive in a failed abortion). This is called infanticide. Just set it on the counter exposed until its last breath. No blanket, no comfort care. Reason? "We don't need to bother a second doctor."
He believes in partial birth abortion at any stage. Here is a man who will not rise up to defend or comfort the helpless. If he is willing to sacrifice a baby for the sake of his daughters convenience, what will he sacrifice when it comes to you to get at what he wants? On election day, vote 'no' on Obama.
