Resurrection events

Come join us Thursday, April 9 through Sunday April 12 to follow the life of Jesus. The evening will begin with a light supper at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, events begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday morning there will be a special service at 7 :15 a.m., followed by a free breakfast. The event is hosted by Glacier View Seventh Day Adventist Christian School in Ronan. FUMC worship schedule

First United Methodist Church of Polson, located at 301 16th Ave. E., will hold a Maundy Thursday Worship Gathering at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 and will gather for Easter Worship at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. For more information, call 883-6161 or visit us at www.polsonumc.org

American Legion meeting

 The Polson American Legion Post 112 will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 upstairs at the Polson VFW.

St. Paul Easter services

St. Paul Lutheran Church Easter Services in Ronan will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9. The service will follow Jesus as He is put to trial before the chief priest , the whole council and then delivered to Pilate; then to the Cross. At 7 p.m. on  Friday, April 10, service “when the sixth hour came and darkness was over the whole land….” The Easter Sunrise Service will be at 6 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. An additional Easter Service will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. Sunday School and Adult Bible Study will be at 10 a.m.

Masumola Club meeting

The Masumola Club meeting will be held on Thursday, April 9 at the Clubhouse.

The Easter social gathering begins at 6 p.m., potluck at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7:00 p.m. Program is featuring “Winging it North” - local bird migration with Jim Rogers of the Audubon Society.

Grasshopper Forecast and Control Clinic 

A Grasshopper Forecast and Control Clinic has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 at the Round Butte Women’s Clubhouse, 7.5 miles west of Ronan on Round Butte Road. Specialists from USDA APHIS Plant Protection and Quarantine Division will conduct a program to assist landowners in Lake County to identify, manage and control grasshoppers through early detection. Free dinner

Have Dinner With Us from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 10 and the second Friday Night of each month at our Friendship Table.  Everyone in the community is welcome in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 4th Avenue East (across from the main entrance to Linderman School).

Music at Hangin Art

Music at 7 p.m. at The Hangin Art Gallery at Coffee House on Highway 93 in Arlee will feature Larry Hirshberg acoustic originals this week.

NWMGP will have its meeting at 1 p.m . on Saturday, April 11 at the Community Center in Columbia Falls.

Polson tea party

Tired of excessive government spending? Come to the Polson tea party at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 in Riverside Park in Polson. Bring a tea bag and a chair.

Easter basket surprises

Free Easter baskets will be distributed at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at SuperOne. The event is hosted by the Buzz Box. Call Nancy Hauserman at 883-5160 for more information. Children must be present to receive a basket.

National Library Week

Polson City Library will commemorate National Library Week, April 11-18, with a special evening program featuring Polebridge author Sharon Midkiff Randolph.  Randolph’s presentation will be at 7 p.m. on  Wednesday, April 15 in the Library Meeting Room. There will be no admission charge. Refreshments will be served.

MME egg hunt

 Mission Mountain Enterprises, Inc. will be holding its 15th annual Ronan Community Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 in the Ronan City Park. There will be prizes for all age categories of participants. Photos with the Easter Bunny will occur after the event at our Twice But Nice Thrift Store at 229  Main St. SW in Ronan. Good Shepherd services

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will have four worship services this week, and its youth group will serve breakfast Easter morning.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services will be held at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, we will conclude the “Pieces of the Passion” series by examining “The Towel.” Two services will be held Easter Sunday, April 12, at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., with the youth group serving an Easter breakfast at 8 a.m.

JourneyBe’s Easter service

JourneyBe’s Easter Service will be at 11 a.m. on Easter morning. A nontraditional service will be highlighted by our musical and dancing guest artists, Yumi, and Tracee Jamison-Hooks. journeyBe is located at 101 Seventh Ave West, across the street from the Burger Barn. Colombia talk

Nidia Castellanos is a single mother of three children who is risking her life to defend human rights in Colombia will speak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at The Hangin’ Art Gallery. The event is sponsored by The Hangin’ Art Gallery, Npustin, Montana Human Rights Network and Community Action for Justice in the Americas.

National Tax Day Tea Party

Citizens in the Polson/Ronan area are organizing a TEA Party rally this coming tax day, from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 at Riverside Park (next to the Armed Forces Memorial Bridge) in Polson to let our government representatives know we are Taxed Enough Already. The nonpartisan event will feature various speakers including John Merlette, author of the “Time and Space Trilogy,” from Bigfork. We invite the Mission  Valley Community to bring a chair, bring a sign and join their voices with others who wish to be heard. There are free souvenirs for the first 50 attendees.

LC Democrats meeting

The Lake County Democrats will meet on Thursday, April 16, at the Polson Library. We will gather at 6 p.m. for a social half hour and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. Please remember to bring items for the food pantry. Everyone is welcome.

Owl Institue meeting

The Ronan PTA will sponsor Author Night with Denver Hold, an owl speciliast from the Owl Institute out of Charlo. The event will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 at the Performing Arts Center at Ronan Middle School. The event is free.

Fups basketball tourney

The 39th annual “Charlo Fups Basketball Tournament”  will be held April 17-19 in Charlo and Dixon Montana. The tournament, which is Montana’s longest running town team tournament, is held as a benefit for the students of Charlo High School and as a reunion for the players. There are divisions for Mens B, Mens C and Womens Recreation. There is no Mens A Division which is for current or former college players. Ronan blood drive

There will be a blood drive from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 at the Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall, Ronan 35933 Round Butte Road.  For appointment contact Adina 676-9228. Walk-ins welcome.

People’s Center events

From 1-3 p.m. on Sundya, April 19 “Share The Vision, I have been to the top of the Mountain” by Pend d’Oreille Tribal member, Kenny “Warhoop” Camel. Come hear Kenny’s life stories about events in his life that has impacted his dreams and visions and his view of his spiritual life. Open and free to the public, for more information call 675-0160. Also, beading and outfit construction classes every Wednesday here at The People’s Center from 1-4 p.m. through April and May and June. Receive instruction from tribal bead workers.

Want to Donate a bike?

Celebrate Earth Day and Bike Path Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 25. We are looking for outgrown bikes in working condition to be donated for our event. We will come pick up or you can drop off at Tribal Fitness

Skatepark fundraiser

The 52 Skatepark and The Skate Ignatius Project will be holding a fundraising skate competition at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the 52 Skatepark in Missoula. Owners of the 52 Skatepark, Dylan Tucker and Jamie Erickson will be hosting a competition.  The admission fee is $5 and there will be great prizes and giveaways. The Skate Ignatius Project will be on hand selling concessions and T-shirts, including a new design showcasing “Saint Ignatius, the skater”. Horse rescue needs help

Horse Rescue Facility in Polson is in desperate need of support. The owner and 16 horses are being threatened with eviction next week by the lender. Ninepipes Museum opening

Ninepipe’s Museum of Early Montana opened on Wednesday, April 1 with two new special displays:

“The Paintings and Sculptures of Ray Dan Sleeping Bear, a deceased Gros Ventre Artist” and “Beaded Indian Dresses, 1860-1950”

Spring Hunters Education Class

Registration for the Spring Hunter Education course will from 6:30 -9 p.m. on be Monday, April 20, in Room 118 at the Beaverhead Math and Science building on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo. A parent or guardian must accompany students under 18 to registration.

Vegetable seed sale

Pancake breakfast

The Lake County Council on Aging will host a Pancake Brunch Fundraiser at the Polson Senior Center from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 featuring biscuits and gravy, ham, scrambled eggs, sausage—and best of all, Aunt Patti’s famous

Oatmeal Pancakes, a frontier recipe that came into Montana from Bakersfield, Calif. by sheepwagon back in the 1880’s. The meal costs $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. Local businesses have donated items for a silent auction, and music by Pickers in the Park and Pete Guillard will add a festive atmosphere. LCCOA provides Homemaking, Respite, Transportation, Legal Services and Commodities to senior citizens and hopes to fund these services despite State budget cuts. Anyone wishing to donate food or items for the auction  may call Dave Marshall at 883-4214.

MVUM festival

Mission Valley United Methodist Church will host a Mission Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday April 25. at the church top of Post Creek hill. Reverend Cathy Whitlach will share about her missionary experience in Argentina. A donation for the health kits will be taken.Lunch will be provided. Contact MVUMC 644-0122 for more information.

Garage Sale

Round Butte Women’s Club will be hosting a multiple-family garage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 25 at the RBW Club 8 miles west of Ronan on Round Butte Road. Call Geri at 676-3054 to make a donations or more information. 

Cherry blossom festival coming

The Yellow Bay Community Club will hold its sixth annual Cherry Blossom Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9,  at the Yellow  Bay clubhouse on Highway 35 (mile marker 18).  Charlo Kindergarten round-up

 The Charlo Elementary School is holding its Kindergarten Round-up frp, 8:30 a.m. to noon, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 20. To be eligible for kindergarten next fall, a student must be five years old by Sept. 10. Parents need to bring a birth certificate and immunization records to the registration. ARK afterschool

An after school program for kids from six to 12 years old begins at 3:30 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. for five Wednesdays beginning April 15 and ending May 13. The ARK, after-school respite for kids, will focus on people working for peace.  Food and assistance are provided for The ARK by members of the First United Methodist Church at 301 16th Ave. E. in Polson.
