RHS Cabaret
Ronan High School Show Choir will present Cabaret at 7:30 p.m. on May 7-9 at the Ronan High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, at the door. Early order reserve seats are available at RMS from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by calling 676-3390, ext. 3400.
Prayer gathering
A National Day of Prayer Event will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at the Lake County Courthouse front lawn. All Mission Valley area Christian churches are welcome to join in unity for an hour of prayer for our nation and local community. Call 883-9347 for more information.
Business workshops
Lake County Community Development Corporation is hosting a series of business workshops for the business community. You will be connecting live via interactive television to Flathead Valley Community College. Next class – Thursday, May 7, 6-8 p.m.; Anatomy of a Business Start Up. Thursday, May 14, 6-8 p.m.; Anatomy of a Business Plan. Understand the importance of a business plan to your business success. By the end of this session you will be able to start crafting an effective business plan.
RMS Honor Pass fundraiser
The Eighth Grade Honor Pass students invite the public to a barbecue fundraiser from 5:30- 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8. The dinner is on a free will donation basis, with the proceeds going to help fund the Honor Pass Field trip. At this time they need to raise $2,300 before May 31. The students are required to achieve honor roll status three of the four quarters and write an essay to be eligible to participate.

RHS show choir
The Ronan High School Show Choir will present the 27th Annual Cabaret on Thursday through Saturday, May 7-9 in the Ronan Performing Arts Center. The doors will open at 6:50 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seat tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for students) are on sale in the Ronan Middle School office, or you may call for reservations at 676-3390 extension 3400. General admission tickets will be sold at the door each night beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the same price.

Arlee Music show
The Arlee Schools Music Department presents the annual Coffee House fundraiser at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 8 on the high school stage. There will be performances by the Jr. High and High School Choirs and Bands. Admission is free and old fashioned soda fountain drinks and ice cream sundaes will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to the Arlee Music Boosters and will directly benefit the Arlee Schools Music Dept. Shop projects made by Arlee Schools’ shop students will be on display in the gymnasium.
Thrivent Benefit for Infant
There will be a Thrivent sponsored ham dinner and silent auction from 5:30- 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at the St. Ignatius Senior Citizen’s Center. Meal tickets are $6 for adults and $20 for a family. The meal will include ham, potato dishes, vegetable and dessert. Beverages will be punch, coffee and water. The benefit is for Allan (Detert) Stavem, grandson of Jim Detert and great-grandson of Herman and Hazel Detert. Allan was born prematurely and has had numerous surgeries including, heart surgery, blood vessel realignment from lungs to heart, eye surgery and others. Any financial help would be appreciated. MVUMC carnival

MV Garden Club sale
The Mission View Garden Club will have its annual plant sale and luncheon in Charlo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the Charlo Senior Center. They will have flowers, bedding, plants, vegetables, trees, indoor-outdoor plants, native plants and home-made pies. Lunch will be available for a small fee.
Bird Woman Falls meeting
The Bird Woman Falls Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its next meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, in Marge Fisher’s conference room located at 750 W. Second, Suite G in Whitefish. Visitors are welcome.
Birth class
The next St. Luke comprehensive one-day childbirth education class will be held Saturday, May 9. St. Luke Certified Childbirth Educator Linda Cox will help moms-to-be with important information on pregnancy, labor, and the birth process. The class from 8 am to 5 pm includes instructions for Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques, stress management, and infant CPR among other things.

Run for Education
It’s time again for the 5k/1mile, Run for Education, on Saturday, May 9. This is the 4th annual scholarship fundraiser for graduating seniors from St. Ignatius High School. It is fun for all ages and levels! Benson cancer benefit
A cancer benefit for Debbie Benson from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the Ronan Community Center. Cherry Blossom Festival
The Flathead Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, many, many vendors. Free door prizes are drawn every half hour. MV Speedway opening
The Mission Valley Speedway will open at 3 p.m. on May 9, for opening day the MVS will raise money for Lake County Animal Shelter and all classes are running for double points. Mariners game, food drive
On Sunday, May 10, the Mission Valley Mariner will be hosting Kalispell for two seven inning games. The games start at 1 p.m. It’s the MV Mariners Community Food Bank Drive. Bring any canned food items for free admission to the game. Between games we will be acknowledging all mothers for Mother’s Day. Bring Mom to the game. Mission Audobon meeting
“Wildlife Management and Research in Glacier National Park” by John Waller will be the next evening program of the Mission Mountain Audubon Society at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 in the Polson City Library Meeting Room. Everyone is welcome. Join Dr. John Waller, a wildlife biologist with the National Park Service in Glacier National Park, as he gives an overview and discusses wildlife research and management in Glacier. We hope you’ll join us for what will certainly be an interesting and informative talk.

Dixon School Reunion
The second annual Dixon School Reunion Social is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 at the Best Western KwaTukNaq Casino Resort in Polson. A limited luncheon menu is being planned for those who are hungry OR, if not hungry, just stop by and say “Hello.”

Rural fire meeting
Polson Rural Fire District Trustees monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, may 13 in the Polson City Council Room. The meeting business will include swearing in new trustess, electing officers and reviewing past meeting minutes. The new Fairground Fire Station plan will also be reiviewed and new business will be discussed.All residents of the Polson Rural Fire District and interested general public are encouraged to attend. Ballfied volunteers needed

“Mission Valley Rumble” Youth Boxing Friday Night Fights in St. Ignatius will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 5. at the Community center in St. Ignatius. Tickets range from $15 to $25. Interested Fighters can pick up their entrance forms at Stuarts Napa in St. Ignatius, weigh-ins will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.

Community Bank will be hosting their second annual Community After-Tax Shred Day on Friday, May 22. Every day someone is a victim of identity theft. To protect you from this fast growing consumer fraud, a mobile shredding truck will be at our two locations to shred two- file sized boxes of your personal documents. Polson Bike/Walk/Work
Polson Mayor Marchello Proclaims Bike and Walk to Work Day will be Friday, May 15. Help us celebrate national bike month by riding your bike or walking to work on this day. Marchello urges everyone to bike or walk to work for fun and fitness as well as cheap transportation. On the morning of May 15, participating cyclists and walkers should stop by St. Joseph Medical Center lobby to sign up for the Bike to Work Day drawings. There will also be drawings and a light breakfast served at Linderman and Cherry Valley Schools for the participating children.
BG Club scramble
Mission Mountain Golf Course, Reser’s Fine Foods and Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County will host the fourth annual Boys Girls Club Golf Scramble on May 16. Competition starts with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. A meal is provided with team registrations which will be taken up until T time. Proceeds for the event are used to help with the summer activities and programs offered at the Boys & Girls club. Everyone is invited to an evening of fellowship with the Gospel Echoes team on Saturady, May 16 at the Ronan Community Center. Dr. Ann Perkins Visits Big Arm.
Big Arm Association’s Potluck and presentation will at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at the Big Arm Fire Hall. Don’t miss the remarkable Dr. Ann Perkins with a presentation on the Human-Animal Bond program at Carroll College which she founded and fostered is putting Montana on the map. Lake County Relay for Life
This year’s relay will be held on Saturday, June 20, to Sunday, June 21 at the Polson High School Track. On Friday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Deveer Designs fused glass jewelry will hold a one day only sale at Rod’s Harvest Foods in St. Ignatius. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Mission Valley Animal Shelter. Deveer Designs fused glass jewelry is made locally and sold nationwide. Arlee CDC
The Arlee Community Development Corporation will be holding its annual meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16 at the Arlee Salish Senior Center. Ronan Golf for Griz
The annual Golf for Griz Tournament at the Mission Mountain Country Club in Ronan will be held on Friday, May 22.
The 18-hole tourney, will kick off the action at 11 a.m. The individual player fee will be $90 per golfer. The $90 will cover the golf, barbecue and entry for door prizes. Barbecue only tickets are available for $25 each. All proceeds from the tourney go toward UM Grizzly athlete scholarships. Financial and Estate Planning Seminar will be held at KwaTaqNuk on May 12 featuring Guest Speaker Dr. Marsha A. Goetting a Professor and Extension Family Economics Specialist at Montana State University. This seminar is open to the public at no cost. The seminar will cover the control and distribution of a will, how to avoid financial and property probate and more. The Plant a Row for the Hungry Campaign for 2009 had several people offer space for people who want to garden and don’t have a spot to do it. And we will have seeds and plants available too, as we will be working with Kelly Ware and the new Polson Gardens Alliance to have a big seed-share and plant-swap after the parades on Memorial Day. Anyone who has plants that need to be divided up — this is an opportunity to share the love. Gather your plants and excess seeds and let’s do this! No government funds required! The Greater Polson Community Foundation has finalized its plans to introduce granting opportunities to interested non-profits.
A hosted luncheon will take place Friday, May 22, at the Papa Don’s Restaurant now located in the lower level of the Polson Golf Course. Anyone interested is asked to call 883-2248 right now, due to limited seating. A brochure, directions on how to download the application, will be mailed to screened applicants by May 1.
St. Joe birthing classes
St. Joseph Medical Center is sponsoring our two-day session of Childbirth Preparation Classes from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 15 and 9 a.m. to -1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. Spay/Neuter clinic
Lake County Spay/Neuter Task Force will be offering a spay/neuter clinic on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday May 31, by appointment only. For a reservation, please call 253-0448 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, starting on Sunday, May 10.
Polson city coucil spots
July 2 is the filing deadline for the September 15 primary elections. Qualifications for a place on the ballot are: the person must be 18 years of age or older; a citizen of Montana; and a qualified elector (pursuant to Article IV, Section 2 of the Montana Constitution) who has resided in City limits for more than one year. Councilmember’s must reside within the ward they seek to represent at the time of their election and during the entire term of office. The term is four-year with one seat in each ward, which will be eligible for election in the 2010–2013 term. In addition, the second seat in Ward 2, currently occupied by Mr. Clavadetscher by appointment, is also up for election in this year, which was filled to compensate for the unexpired portion of Mr. Jones’ term.
The elections are nonpartisan. The top two vote-getters for each seat in the primary will face off in a general election in November and the newly elected members will take office in January 2010. Filing for these offices commences on May 4 at the Lake County Elections Office at the Courthouse.
