CHARLO — At the last Charlo School Board meeting the trustees approved plans to bid on the new lobby and locker room, and voted to hire a new superintendent for the coming school year.

Architect Paul Bishop and construction manager Chris Cheff were on hand to answer any questions about the future multi-purpose room lobby and locker room, and went over the current plans with the board. The trustees are looking for someone to tear down the current school lobby — which is a third of the size of the proposed lobby — and dispose of the metal before construction begins.

A storm water management plan is also in the works.

As current superintendent Bill Colter will leave the district at the end of the school year, the board has been looking for his replacement and seems to have found one. The board voted to hire Paul Jenkins, current superintendent and principal of Helena Flats, as the superintendent for the coming school year. His contract with Helena Flats was not renewed.

The duties and job description of the dance/drill team coach job description was reviewed. The district is looking to hire a coach.

Another agenda item of the night had to do with health insurance. For various reasons the board is considering a switch from MUST medical insurance to Blue Shield. The matter will be further discussed and voted on at the next meeting.

The district has yet to get budget figures from the state.
