BREAKING NEWS Candidate accepts city manager job

After being without a city manager for a little less than two years, the city has found someone to take interim-city manager James Raymond’s place.

The council announced its intentions to hire city manager candidate Todd Crossett at a special meeting Monday and according to Raymond, Crossett has accepted the position and plans to move to the area in mid-June.

Crossett is coming from a county commissioner position in Bonner County, Idaho, and will bring his two children and wife to Polson, along with his collaborative approach to city government.

“It’s important to really hear what people are all about,” Crossett told the council during his interviews, adding that he has always been a strong motivator.

He told the council that during his first 30 days he will work to develop local, state and federal connections while gaining a sense of Polson’s priorities. He stressed during his interview that without a vision and a “common cause” little can happen in any environment.

“People don’t like to put their time and energy into something that doesn’t move and just spins and spins,” he said.

Crossett also made his fiscally conservative approach known to the council, stressing the importance of partnerships and investment-minded spending.

Raymond said details of Crossett’s contract have yet to be finalized, and no documents signed.
