THOMPSON FALLS — A flat course and good weather made for a great day for distance running for the Arlee cross country team.

Last Thursday, the entire Arlee team ran personal record races at the Thompson Falls Invitational.

“I was expecting fast times, but not this fast,” head coach Katea Dreiling said. “Some even had lifetime personal records.”

Junior Jesse Pfau was one second away from running in 18 minutes and Reece Pierce and Tayla Desjarlais cut their times down, 2.5 and five minutes, respectively.

Dreiling is confident that by state, she will have four boy runners under 19-minutes.

“I’d like to see our guys run tighter so they can work together,” she said.

For the girls team, Dreiling is excited to see what they can do.

“They keep improving by leaps and bounds,” Dreiling said. “They’re young but already know how to work hard.”

Arlee hosted a home meet, Hatchery Challenge on Tuesday night. Results weren’t available at press time.

Arlee will compete at Polson’s home meet on Saturday.
