HAMILTON — The Ronan volleyball team started with a lead in the third set against Hamilton last Saturday.

The momentum didn’t last as the Maidens lost 17-25, 22-25, 25-21, 17-25 in the nonconference game.

“We went to four sets we won the third set but were unable to bring any momentum into the fourth,” head coach Shae Hutchinson said.

At one point, Ronan had a six point lead in the third set. The Maidens kept the lead throughout the entire set, something they haven’t done all season, Hutchinson said.

“There have been games this season that we were up but started playing the tipping game and hoping they would make the mistakes and instead we did,” Hutchinson said.

Senior outside hitter Brittani Clarimont led the team with three aces. Junior outside hitter Alice VanGunten had six kills while junior setter Taylor Lynch had three assists and 10 digs.

Ronan will face Whitefish tonight in the Maiden’s senior night and travel to Libby on Saturday.

Whitefish covers the floor well and has a quick offense, Hutchinson said.

“We will need to be consistent on our passing, so that we can run our offense,” she said.  “Our blockers will have to be playing the net well for [the Libby] game.”
