Class of 1960 reunion

The Polson High School Class of 1960 will celebrate its 50 year class reunion in Polson on August 6, 7 and 8.

Saturday, Aug. 7

Water Daze

Mission Valley Aquatics would like to invite everyone down to the eighth annual Polson Bay's Water Daze one-mile Swim Race and Water Festival. There will be free fun activities for children, including a large blow-up waterslide. The kids' race and activities are free and the children will swim after all the one mile swimmers finish, approximately 2 or 2:30 p.m.

Race registration is available online at www.mvaquatics.org.

Call 883-4567 for more information. Proceeds benefit the Mission Valley Aquatics organization committed to raising money for an indoor swimming facility in the Mission Valley community.

Ronan library picnic

The 2010 Make a Splash at your Library Summer Reading Program is coming to a close for the Ronan City Library and D'Arcy McNickle Library.

Thursday, August 5 is the last day to turn in your reading logs and get tickets for the grand prize drawings. At 3 p.m. on Aug. 7, a free picnic lunch will be provided by the Library and the grand prize drawings will begin after food is served.

The picnic and drawings will be held at Bockman Park in Ronan at the large pavilion on Eisenhower Street. Come eat some free food and join the fun.

Centennial events

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. check out the 1923 Formation of Lake County Exhibit. This exhibit was organized by Ruth Hodges and shows how Lake County was created from Flathead County (Kalispell) and Missoula County.

From 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., check out the Lake County School History Stories and Pictures presentation with Joyce Decker Wegner. She has extensive information about all the schools but will focus on the schools from around Polson. A new book will be published this fall.

Both are at the Lake County Courthouse lawn.

Citizens Acting for

Liberty meeting

Come join Citizens Acting for Liberty at 6 p.m. on August 10 at the Miracle of America Museum. This month's event will feature a presentation entitled "Religious Liberty?" which will focus on the relationship between the U.S. Constitution and Religion. Our speaker for the evening will be Al Onsager. Mr. Onsager has taught history at the Ronan High School for the last 26 years and has passionately studied U.S. Government and economics for 30 years. The Polson Rural Fire District Trustee monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the Fairgrounds station.

Republican youth

meeting

The Lake County Republican Youth Club, sponsored by the Lake County Republican Women's Club, will hold its second organizational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at Betty's Diner in Polson.

All county youth between the ages of 12 and 18 are invited to attend. Input on planning for the coming school year is the featured activity. Come and bring a friend. Parents are welcome. Pizza and beverages will be provided by the LCRW.

Fort Connah

historical restoration society meeting

There will be a meeting of the Fort Connah Historical Restoration Society at 6 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the 44 Bar and Grill, located six miles north of St. Ignatius, on Highway 93.

Matters for discussion are the following: financial and budget reports and future planning, proposed Ghost Town Society tour, on September 13, the fall 2010 rendezvous, future planning for the black powder shooting range, discussion on the Society's by-laws and Master Plan, review insurance coverage, review and discuss the membership list and future recruitment planning, a building and septic report and review, grant writing, and discussion on a historical seminar.
