*The following district court proceedings took place Aug. 18.

-State of Montana vs. John Steele; 18. The matter before the Court is arraignment. Ready to enter plea, Defendant pleads not guilty to the charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. The plea is entered and the case will be set for trial. Defendant remains in custody. Attorney Brian West request an O/R release with the condition of SCRAM bracelet. The State explains and objects. The Court denies the Defendant’s motion for O/R release and reserves the right to Defendant to bring the issue of bail before the Court at a later time. Omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 1 at 9 a.m.

-State of Montana vs. Fredrick Tapia; 63. The matter before the Court is arraignment. Ready to enter plea, Defendant pleads not guilty to the charge of driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs, fourth or subsequent offense, a felony. The plea is entered and the case will be set for trial. Defendant remains in custody. Attorney Caroline Riss asks to reserve the right to a bond hearing later. So ordered. Omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 8 at 9 a.m.

-State of Montana vs. Joseph Merola; 56. The matter before the Court is arraignment. Ready to enter plea, Defendant pleads not guilty to the charges of assault with a weapon, a felony, Count I and tampering with witnesses and informants, a felony, Count II. The plea is entered and the case will be set for trial. Defendant remains at liberty. Omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 22 at 9 a.m.

*The following district court proceedings took place Aug. 19.

-State of Montana vs. Martin Sanders; 52. The matter before the Court is sentencing.

PSI has been received and reviewed. For the offense of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs, a felony, the Court commits the Defendant to the DOC for a term of 10 years with all that time suspended to run consecutive to Sanders County Case DC-08-9. The Defendant is to receive credit for time served of 49 days and in addition credit for successfully completing the Narconon program for a total credit of 286 days.

-State of Montana vs. Vincent Gladue; 34. The matter before the Court is answer petition to revoke. The Court finds the State provided sufficient evidence to support the petition and revokes the Defendant’s deferred sentence. Ready for sentencing. For the offense of assault with a weapon, a felony, the Court commits the Defendant to the DOC for eight years with five years suspended and would recommend Defendant be considered for Alcohol Treatment Program. Previous conditions are re-imposed.

-State of Montana vs. Ghlee Blickenstaff; 22. The matter before the Court is sentencing. PSI has been received and reviewed. For the offense of criminal endangerment, Count I, a felony, the Court defers imposition of sentence for a period of two years in addition the Defendant shall serve 15 days in the LCJ. For the offense of partner or family member assault, a misdemeanor, Count II, the Court sentences the Defendant to the LCJ for a term of one year all suspended except for 15 days, and for the offense of cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor, Count III, the Court sentences the Defendant to the LCJ for a term of six months with all that time suspended.

The Defendant has 90 days from today’s date to serve jail time of which 15 days may be served on house arrest. The sentence imposed on Count III shall run concurrent to the sentence imposed on Count II. The sentence imposed on Count II and Count III shall run consecutive to the sentence imposed on Count I.

-State of Montana vs. Billie Anne Salois; 39. The matter before the Court is sentencing on revocation. Ready for sentencing. For the offense of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, the Court commits the Defendant to the DOC for three years and would recommend Defendant be considered for RTEC. Previous conditions are re-imposed. The Defendant is to receive credit for time served and the DOC is to consider if the Defendant shall be given credit for the programs that she completed as time served.

-State of Montana vs. Kiel Orr; 27. The matter before the Court is adjudicatory hearing. The Court finds the State provided sufficient evidence to support the petition and revokes the Defendant’s deferred sentence. Ready for sentencing. For the offense of theft, a felony, the Court commits the Defendant to the DOC for five years with all that time suspended. Previous conditions are re-imposed.

-The matter before the Court is sentencing (DC-10-10). PSI has been received and reviewed. For the offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, a felony, the Court commits the Defendant to the DOC for a term of 15 years with 10 years suspended to run consecutive to DC-07-233 with recommendations to the NEXUS program.

-Groom, Emmett W.; 31. Disorderly conduct. Fined $100.

-Staffor, Taylor D.; 19. Possessing intoxicating substances while under the age of 21 (under age 18) - first offense. Fined $200.

-Hindle, Gregory T.; 47. Operating without liability insurance in effect - second offense. Fined $350 and 10 days in jail with eight days suspended. Driving a motor vehicle while privilege to do so is suspended or revoked. Fined $350 and 180 days in jail with 175 suspended. Operating with expired registration - failure to reregister. Fined $50. Displaying license plates assigned to another vehicle. Fined $50.

-VanLear, Charles H.; 21. Fail to carry proof or exhibit insurance in vehicle - third or subsequent offense. Fined $500 and 180 days in jail with 170 suspended. Provide proof of six months continuous insurance coverage on March 1, 2011 and jail reduced to five days. Complete five days Aug. 15.

-Gibson, Scott E.; 30. Operating with alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent BAC or greater - first offense. Fined $600 and 10 days in jail with nine suspended.

-Hoskinson, Alicia M.; 18. Possessing intoxicating substances while under the age of 21 (over age 18) - first offense. Fined $100.

-Salois, April S.; 19. Fail to carry proof or exhibit insurance in vehicle - first offense. Fined $150.

-Baltz, Amanda L.; 29. Fail to carry proof or exhibit insurance in vehicle - second offense. Fined $350 and 10 days in jail with eight days suspended. Provide proof of insurance by Sept. 1 and proof of six months continuous insurance and jail waived.
