Notes from the newsroom
My mom always says, “The more, the merrier,” and our paper is no exception.
Each week, we work our tails off to produce as much content as we can for our readers to consume. Often, there are little extras that aren’t able to fit into our paper, since our page count depends on the amount of advertising we sell.
We don’t like to just throw away all that hard work, so we put it online. Our website, www.leaderadvertiser.com, is the place where we put extra photos, video and full-length stories. Weekly polls have also been added into the mix.
Sports editor Brandon Hansen is able to display pictures from sporting events in the gallery section. There is also a link to his blog, where he breaks down national and local sports during his morning coffee posts.
Our video section hosts footage on events from around Lake County. This week, it features the Brass in Blue band’s performance last Wednesday night.
Of course, each part of the paper is also there; senior news, community notes, letters to the editor and our guest columns are all logged. Users are able to comment on stories and submit their own letters to the editor, community notes or engagement announcements.
All of these features let us interact with the county.
However, our website doesn’t make our paper obsolete. Obituaries are an example of content you cannot find online.
My favorite part of our website is that users can comment on our stories. This helps us gain feedback on our coverage. We encourage everyone to comment, send us their news or best shooting gallery photo.
Either way, we look forward to hearing from you.
