Short-handed SKC gets 21-point performance from Charla Brown

SHERIDAN - The SKC Lady Bison faced a long road trip down to Wyoming with only eight of their players for two games last weekend. The snow didn't help either.

"The weather was horrible," Perez said. "That was definitely a road trip for us."

Injury also set in."We ended the second game with just five girls," head coach Juan Perez said after injuries during the two games knocked players out.

In their first game on Friday against Sheridan College, Charla Brown scored 21 points for the Lady Bison after shooting 5-for-9 from behind the three point arch. SKC ended up losing the game 79-54 after shooting just 26 percent from the field in the first half.

"Charla really worked hard this weekend," Perez said.

Alison Grey Bull had 11 points and Gina Medicine Horse added 8. Perez also said that Tamberly Wagner provided some on-court leadership and helped the girls stay motivated throughout the entire game. The Lady Bison were missing three starters dur-ing the road trip, but the team was resilient despite the adversity.

"We just kept fighting," Perez said. "It's a chance for those subs to get in and get playing time."

In their second game on Saturday against Eastern Wyoming, the Lady Bison shot 34 percent from the field in an 82-53 loss. Priscilla Raven scored 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with six re-bounds.

"Those are huge steps for her, this is after eight weeks," Perez said. "After five months, she'll be dominant."

As a whole, the Lady Bison outrebounded Western Wyoming 50-30, with Grey Bull and Alyssa Horn pulling down 10 boards apiece. Wagner led all scorers with 11 and had eight rebounds.

"They're starting to get use to one another," Perez said.

Overall Perez said that the team is learning and improving, something he wants to see every game.

"I'm not worried," Perez said. "If we're playing like this in February, then I'll be worried."
