The Thanksgiving Community Dinner was a great success. We had between 350 to 400 in attendance. It took many volunteers to pull it off. Thank you to the United Methodist Church, Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, New Life Christian Church, Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Journey Be, Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Community Church, Foursquare Church, Presbyterian Church, Episcopal Church and The LDS Church for all the salads, rolls and pies. The donations made by The Salvation Army, Super One, The VFW Club, Eastern Star, Mission Valley Lodge, Lakes Potatoes, Polson Loaves and Fishes, The LDS Church and Kaye Stam really helped fill in the menu. The kitchen crew Dean Durand, Mary Arden, Klaus Gilchrist, Terry Janaway and sons, Dave Marshall, Francis Davidson and helper John, we couldn’t have done it with out you.

The Youth Groups from Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints and Boy Scout Troop 1947, we thank you so much. It is nice to see the young people of the community getting involved. The music was provided by Trish Tavenner, John and Marge Davis, Wing Devlin and Lozar and the Old Time Fiddlers. You really helped set the mood. Thanks so much. Pastor Kyle Whaley from Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church was our Master of Ceremonies and did a wonderful job. And last but not least, our organizers, Genevieve and Frank Clement, Donna Rolfson, Tracy Plaisse and the 55 plus church and community volunteers, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I hope you all have a great week and I’ll talk to you next week.

Now for some card scores. Bridge scores for Nov. 30 were Ruth Baer first and Dean Greiner second. The pinochle winners for Dec. 2 were Alice Johnson first and Bruce Elliott second. Those getting 300 pinochles were Jan Kaschke and Elsie Culver.

Ronan

Are you tired of shoveling snow yet? I sure am, and I would like to thank whoever has been keeping the center’s front sidewalk cleaned off. All of us at the center appreciate your kindness. My husband, my brother, and Al have also been helping the shoveling, and I sure do appreciate that. The Veterans rep will be here this afternoon (the 9th) from 1 to 3 p.m., and this evening from 5 to 6:30 p.m. we will be having our pork roast dinner. Come in and join us for a wonderful meal. Remember, you never have to be a senior to eat at your local center.

The next foot clinic will be here at the center on Wed., Dec. 15 from 10 to noon. The 9th is also the day of our Christmas dinner at noon. Come in and join us for a wonderful ham dinner, and visit with your friends.

The Ronan Senior Center will be hosting the weekly card party at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20. If you like to play cards, come on in and join the crowd.

On Tuesday nights, the local churches are still hosting the Shepherd’s Table here at the center. They serve from 5 to 6 p.m., and the menu changes every week. There is no charge for this meal, but donations are accepted.

The Council on Aging is still in need of drivers to take seniors to various appointments. With the roads getting bad, many seniors don’t like to drive, especially to Missoula or Kalispell. Give them a call at 676-2368 if you can help them out.

The COA can also help you with any Medicare supplemental insurance questions you might have. Give them a call at 676-2367 to set up an appointment, as the open enrollment period ends at the end of December.

Our menu for the following week is: Thursday (9th) is pork roast at 5 p.m., Friday (10th) our noon meal is calico beans, Monday (13th) our noon meal is hamburger stroganoff, Wednesday (15th) is our Christmas dinner at noon, and Friday (17th) our noon meal is seafood casserole.

Have a good week, and remember to drive like you are not the only one on the road.
