Peaks - Cole Rice - The defending state champion for Arlee was undefeated this season in the weekend's slate of matches. The 152-pounder pinned all three of his opponents and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Badger Invitational in Cascade.

Peaks - Carroll College - Okay, so we may sound like a broken record mentioning the Saints every week in Peaks and Valleys but they continue to march on. Last weekend they won 27-5 over No. 3 Saint Xavier to advance to the NAIA championship game against the No. 1 team in the country, Sioux Falls, on Dec. 18 in Rome, Ga. The Saints employ the services of Polson's Ted Morigeau, who forced a fumble in Carroll College's first-round playoff game. Both Sioux Falls and Carroll are 13-0.

Peaks - Montana basketball - How about them Grizzlies? Knocking off college basketball royalty UCLA 66-57 last Sunday. Montana's zone defense forced 16 turnovers as the

Bruins fell to 3-4 on the season. The Griz improved to 4-3 this year.

Peaks - Basketball starting - Who isn't ready for a little high school roundball? Really, right now all we have is early-season NBA ballgames (that don't matter unless Lebron is coming back to Cleveland) and college basketball. And

keep in mind that college basketball's regular season doesn't matter until conference tournaments (see: March). Hooray!

Valley - Montana State Bobcats - North Dakota State scored 28 points in the fourth quarter to upend the Big Sky Conference champion Montana State Bobcats, 42-17. This is the Bison's first appearance in the FCS playoffs since becoming eligible for postseason play in 2008. They'll face off against co-Big Sky Conference champion Eastern Washington this weekend in Cheney.
