Mission Scholarship Foundation Donation
On Wednesday, Jan. 27, Blackfoot Telecommunications donated $3,000 to the Mission Scholarship Foundation as a memorial to former Blackfoot board member Dan Seery. Present were board member Stuart Morton, a Blackfoot representative, Isabelle Seery and St. Ignatius Superintendent Gerry Nolan. The Mission Scholarship Foundation was created to provide financial assistance to all qualified graduates of Mission High School in their pursuit of a post secondary education. The St. Ignatius School District is proud to say that the teachers and staff do a great job of getting students ready for college. The national graduation rate is about 67 percent, the graduation rate for Montana is 87.2 percent, and in 2009 the rate for Mission High School was 93 percent. Last year, Mission High School graduates average ACT score (23.2) was well above the state (22.0) and national average (21.1). It is a group of St. Ignatius citizens who want to provide a brighter future for the sons and daughters through funding post-high school educational opportunities. If you are interested in either donating to the fund or being part of this effort, please contact Dr. Gerry Nolan at 745-4420 or 396-7698 or e-mail gnolan@stignatiusschools.org.
