The Ronan girls basketball team faced two losses last week.

Against Libby last Saturday, the Maidens faced an 19-point deficit at the half, scoring only two points in the second quarter.

“We held Jackie Mee to two points in that first quarter,” head coach Doug Fisher said.

Ronan increased scoring in the second half, putting 13 points on the board, but it wasn't enough as the Loggers won 55-22.

Sophomore Nina Orozco led with nine points. Junior Jonna Grant went four-for-four at the free throw line.

Fisher said mistakes made because of youth were costly for Ronan.

“We had a lot of turnovers,” Fisher said. “We are improving every game though.”

The Maidens are learning Fisher's new system and adjusting well but having trouble switching things up when opponent's catch on to Ronan's strategy.

“It's something that will come in time,” he said.

The Maidens played Bigfork on Tuesday. Scores were unavailable at press time. Ronan travels to Columbia Falls on Saturday.

“Both are solid teams,” Fisher said of Bigfork and Columbia Falls.
