Boys & Girls Club benefit

The Big Sky Hoe-down a benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Indian Reservation and Lake County will be from 6 p.m. to midnight on July 9 at McCrumbs Barn, Finley Point. For information call 676-5437.

Saturday, July 10

Centennial celebration

The Polson Presbyterian Church will commemorate their first 100 years with a Centennial Celebration on July 10.

The festivities will start at 1 p.m. with historical displays in the fellowship hall. At 2 p.m., there will be a concert in the sanctuary featuring the bell choir and chancel choir. The concert will be followed by an old fashioned ice cream social.

All events are free and everyone is welcome. Polson Presbyterian Church is located at 301 4th Ave. E, across from Linderman Elementary School.  

Officer celebration

There will be an open installation of 2010-11 officers of Mystic Chapter #53, Order of Eastern Star at 11 a.m. on July 10 at the Masonic Lodge in Polson.

This will be open to the public and all family and friends are cordially invited to attend. The Masonic Lodge officers will also be installing their officers. Light refreshments will be served following installation. If you have questions, contact 676-8146.

Bowhunter education class

The final Bowhunter Education class for the year will be held in Polson on July 13, 15 and 17. The Tuesday and Thursday evening session will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, across from Linderman School.

The Saturday field session runs from 8 a.m. to noon, and directions to the Pablo site will be given in class. Students must attend all three sessions and pass a written test given on Saturday. Montana State Law requires all beginning bowhunters, regardless of age, to take the class before they can hunt with a bow and arrow.

There is no charge for the course and pre-registration is not required. Please contact Jim Nesladek at 883-5029, or Dave Conrad at 883-4236 with questions.

Free yoga

If you are curious about how the practice of yoga can enhance your health, please join us for this free Introduction/Level 1 Yoga class.

There is no charge for this class and it is from 7:30-8:45 p.m. at the YogaHeart Studio “Purple Door.”

Polson rural fire

The July Polson Rural Fire District Trustee monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on July 14 at the Fairgrounds station.

Puppet show

Vacation Bible School at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Ronan, is featuring “The Ten Commandment Lessons” by author Todd Christensen. 

Come join our puppet friends Jacob, Grouchy Uncle Bill and Commandment Man as we take a trip through the Ten Commandments.  Learn your lessons well with a host of unique plays and characters designed to help teach children the importance of living Godly lives. 

Based on the Ten Commandments, each play includes a little bit of law and a whole lot of Gospel. There will be a light supper served at 5:30 p.m. each day. There will be music, crafts, games and much more.

This takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on July 12 through July 16 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

USDA Child Nutrition Program Available at Ronan Boys & Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club would like to announce the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program.

The Summer Food Service Program is a U.S. Department of Agriculture, USDA, Child Nutrition Program that provides free, nutritious meals to children when school is not in session.

The program will run from July 1 through August 20.  The Boys & Girls Club in Ronan is the site for the meals. 

School District No. 30 will serve as the vendor. Serving time will be from noon until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
