Troop 1947 help in Glacier

| July 9, 2010 11:16 AM

The Boy Scouts from Troop 1947 have just returned from Glacier National Park where they performed 16 hours of community service to celebrate the centennial of Glacier National Park and the Boys Scouts of America, both formed in 1910.

The boys worked in and around St. Mary on the eastern side of the park, clearing tree trimming and enlarging campsites at the St. Mary campground and litter patrol on the trails around St. Mary Lake.

After five hours of work each day they also had the opportunity to play in the snow at the top of Logan Pass and cool off in the chilly waters of Swiftcurrent Lake. The boys all earned the Montana Council Service Award and Resource Stewardship Scout Ranger Award.
