Polson High School Class of 1959 Scholarship

James Bach, of Rollins, was selected as the 2010 scholarship recipient of the scholarship funded by the PHS Class of ‘59 with a match by the Dollars for Scholars.

Impressed by James' essay and the passion he expressed towards his future career in diesel technology, committee members Gary Maas, Clao Milner, Dave Swayne, Jane Farnum Laraby-Swayne and Sandy Tollefson Weaver selected James as the 2010 scholarship recipient.

James will attend Montana State University-Northern to pursue his Bachelor degree in science. The last paragraph of Bach's essay reflects his excitement of entering the diesel technology field.

"This project of rebuilding an engine gave me a lot of knowledge about engines and the mechanics of a vehicle, but most of all, it reconfirmed my passion for working on motors," he wrote. "My heart beats in RPM's!"

James is described by Emily Kay Peck, PHS Guidance Counselor as, "humble, hard-working and just an all around good kid." The PHS Class of ‘59 intends to continue the support of Polson H.S. graduates and regards this minor effort as a thank you for the fine educations we received while attending Polson High School.

The PHS Class of ‘59 has underwritten scholarships since 2005 for seven students. Career choices and colleges have included elementary education, nursing, journalism, physical therapy, business and with James's choice, diesel technology.
