Ronan senior center

Well, another month is half over, and it's still raining. Someday, our sunny skies will come. (And then we will complain because it's so hot and dry.)

There will be a birthday party, for a very special lady, at the center on the afternoon of June 19. Grace Ingraham turns 95 years young this month, so come and help her celebrate her big day.

Also, on June 19, the American Legion will again hold their breakfast, here at the center, from 7 a.m. until 11. Please come and help them to raise money for their various causes, one of them being the American Legion Baseball for our youth.

The Ronan Senior Center will be hosting the card party at 7 p.m. on June 21, and we will be having the foot clinic at 10:30 a.m. on June 23.

One of the fundraisers that we have at the center (with the COA) is the recycling of aluminum cans, and we really appreciate all of you who have contributed to the cause. It is people like you who help to keep the senior programs going. One of these programs provides transportation for seniors to various appointments. If you are in need of a ride, or are interested in driving for them, call the COA at 676-2368.

Our menu for the following week is:

Friday, June 18, baked fish; Monday, June 21, potato bar; Wednesday, June 23 lasagna; Friday, June 25, is the birthday dinner and we will be serving roast beef. Come in and join us, and remember you don't have to be a "senior" to join us.

Have a good week, and remember that if someone says something unkind about you, live so that no one will believe it.

With Jo Durand: Just a friendly reminder, that the AARP Driving Class will be next week on June 22. If you are interested, be sure to call us at 883-4735, to get registered.

Whom ever our little mystery gardener was here at the center, we thank them very much. The flower bed looks so much nicer. Thanks again.

I omitted something from last week's letter. Mr. Bumgarner and the Middle School Choir came and entertained us with a few songs. They were absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed them very much. Good job and keep up the good work.

Kathi, good to see you having so much fun playing bridge on Friday. You were right, the cards were with you.

Now for some card scores. The bridge scores for June 8 had Barbara Walker first and Ken Schuba second. Bridge scores for June 11 were Kathi Neeley first and Millie Meilke second. The pinochle winners were Dwight Graham first and Ward Grilley second. Those getting double pinochles were Dee Adams. Way to go Dee!

Menu: Thursday, June 17, pork chops; Friday, June 18, Clara's fish fry; Monday, June 21, spaghetti; Tuesday, June 22, turkey a la king; Wednesday, June 23, burritos.
