Ronan senior news
Congratulations to Lorna Tougas on being chosen as the Senior of the Year for the Ronan Center. Lorna does a lot of volunteer work here at the center, and we really appreciate all of her help. We will be holding a dinner in her honor in the near future, and will announce the date once the date has been set.
Last Friday was our monthly birthday dinner, and we had 86 people come to enjoy the meal.
There were twenty people at the center to play cards on June 21. Lunch was served by Grace Ingraham and Marlys Hoeldt. High score went to Todd Myhre, low score to Ray Salomen, most pinochles to Shirley Nelson and the door prize was won by Lewis Palmer. The next card game at the Ronan center will be at 7 p.m. on July 19.
A lot of necessary work has been done to the center lately. With memorial funds from Dorrene Darlington’s family, we have had work done in the kitchen. With memorial funds from the Gereld Leighton family, we have had work done to the main entry way. We have had new carpet installed, and my husband, Moe, and my brother, Randy, were both shanghaied into doing some painting. When the work was all done, John and Sylvia came in and helped us put thing back together. A BIG thanks to all who helped us with these projects. Without your help, things would have taken a lot longer to do. Drop in and see our new look.
Remember the monthly Board meeting at 10 a.m. on July 12 and the annual meeting is the same day at 1 p.m. Our next evening meal is at 5 p.m. on July 8 and we will be serving chicken. The Veterans’ rep will be here that afternoon from 1 until 3 p.m.
We will be closed on Monday the 5 for the 4th of July holiday. Menu: Friday, July 2, hamburger patties in gravy; Monday, July 5, closed; Wednesday, July 7, salmon loaf; Thursday, July 8, chicken at 5 p.m.
Have a good week, and enjoy the nice weather.

With Cathy Corrigan: I hope that you all have a great and safe 4th of July. Let’s hope that the weather cooperates with us! The center will be closed on July 5th for the holiday. See you all on Tuesday July 6.
Wanda is back full time and would like to thank Jo for all the hard work in the kitchen she put in while Wanda was away. I would like to say that we are very lucky to have two talented women in the kitchen here and we wouldn’t know what to do without Kellie’s expertise in the salad department. Way to go ladies.
Dave is going on vacation this week and will be gone until the middle of July. Paul and Shirley Laisey will be filling in for him. Have a really great time Dave and Fran be safe and have fun. You earned it.
A few of the upcoming activities are: At 10:30 a.m. on July 7 is the Toenail Clinic and Blood Pressure Clinic and at 10 a.m. on July 8 is the Veterans Aid.
Now for some card scores. The bridge scores for June 22 had Euva Johns first and Chuch Akir second. Bridge scores for June 25 were Max Neeley first and Ruth Baer second. The pinochle winners were Duane Johnson first and Ward Cooley second.
Menu: Thursday, July 1, chicken enchiladas; Friday, July 2, sausage gravy and biscuits; Monday, July 5, closed; Tuesday, July 6, meat loaf; Wednesday, July 7, chicken cordon bleu sandwich.
Dixon
senior news
With Martha Swonson: It’s finally here! The sun and warm temperatures will help our tomatoes and other plants and help with successful outings and picnics this 4th of July weekend. There is so much going on this time of summer in our valley! I have to see a parade every year and what choices there are. I will be sharing this beautiful area with company from Alabama. I can’t wait ‘til they see the Missions!
A great bit of news from the Dixon area: Boone and Mary Cole just welcomed a lovely baby girl, Jubilee Rose! This makes me a proud aunt and Sharon Cole is the delighted grandmother. There hasn’t been a baby in the family for a very long time! Thanks kids!
There will be no meal served at the center on July 5. Regular meals are Mondays at five and noon on Thursdays. Breakfast/lunch is served Monday through Friday starting at seven in the morning. Takeouts are available. If you need a place for a get together, meeting, reception, etc., the center is available for rent. It is air conditioned and has a dance floor, and a kitchen. Call Mary for details at 406-370-618.
Our recent dance was a great success. We will not be dancing in July or August, but will be back in the fall. See you then!
