Saint Andrew's Spring Rummage Sale
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 7 and 9 a.m. to Noon on May 8, St. Andrews at 110 6th Ave. E., in Polson will be having a rummage sale.
Varied quality items, including books, electronics, house wares, jewelry, exercise equipment, children's toys, furniture, etc, but no clothing.
Rummage sale items will be located inside and in the backyard.
Tribal Youth Gathering
The St. Ignatius Community Center will be holding a Tribal Youth Gathering on May 7 and 8, 2010.

Ronan Honor Pass
dinner
May 6 and 7, the Ronan Honor Pass students will be hosting a "Pre-Cabaret" dinner. This is a donation dinner from 5-7 p.m. before the start of the Ronan Show Choir Cabaret. This dinner is perfect if you are attending the show or performing. Dinner is in the seventh grade hall of the Ronan Middle School. A great meal and proceeds go to the eighth grade Honor Pass Students.

International
Migratory Bird Day at the National Bison Range
The National Bison Range will celebrate International Migratory Bird Day on Saturday, May 8. In celebration, there will be a number of family-oriented activities available.
The big event of the day is the opening of Red Sleep Mountain Drive for the summer season, weather and road conditions permitting, of course.
Call the National Bison Range at (406) 644-2211, extension 207 for more information and to register.
The Refuge and its scenic drives will open at 6:30 a.m. Visitors coming in the evening will need to start Red Sleep Mountain Drive by 6 p.m. to complete the trip before the Refuge closes as dark.
Due to safety concerns, large vehicles (over 30 feet in length), trailers and all other towed units are not allowed on the Red Sleep. Visitors are asked to stop at the Visitor Center to pay fees and receive maps and current information. Wildlife books and posters are available for sale.

Mariners baseball camp
The Mission Valley Mariner's American Legion baseball teams are holding their annual player baseball camp and coaches clinic on Saturday May 8th at American Legion Field at O'Malley Park. Come out for a day of baseball instruction and meet the players. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The camp will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at Noon. All participants will receive instructions in baseball fundamentals, A t-shirt, lunch and admission into the Mariner's game that starts at 1 p.m. against the Kootenai Valley Rangers.
The camp is open to all coaches and kids age 7 to 18. Fee is $35 per player (coaches are free). Scholarships are available. Please do not let cost keep you from attending. Team discounts are available for eight or more players from the same team. Pick up your registration sheet at Century 21 on the corner of Highways 93 and 35.

Annual spring clean-up
At 9.m. on May 8, Ronan will have its Annual Spring Clean-up Day at City Park to pick up garbage. There will be two construction size box dumpsters donated by Allied Waste available to drop off approved trash items and full trash bags.
One dumpster will be located at the City Park near the Fire Hall and the other will be located by the City Park restrooms. There will also be someone on hand at the dumpsters to provide recycling information and a roving trash pick-up service.
The Chamber will provide the dumpsters, trash bags, rubber gloves, coffee and donuts. For information or assistance with trash items please call Chuck Lewis at 270-5735.

Piano recital
At 2 p.m. on Mother's Day, May 9th, Brenna Hybenon, of Charlo and a UM Piano Major, together with some friends, will present a piano recital at The Red Poppy. This program, as well as the following reception, is open to the public.

Conference on Aging
The 2010 Montana Governors Conference on Aging will be at the KwaTaqNuk Resort in Polson May 10 and 11. This event is sponsored by the Area VI Agency on Aging, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the Governors Advisory Council on Aging.

State candidate forum
Citizens Acting for Liberty invites all Lake County voters to a state candidate election forum on this coming Tuesday, May 10 at the Community Center, 300 3rd Ave. NW in Ronan. A potluck dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by a candidate forum at 6:45 p.m. featuring state delegate candidates. Short informative videos will also be shown.
In addition to candidate education, before and after the event, you will have an opportunity to visit focus groups that will be holding separate smaller meetings each month on issues such as Property Rights, Tenth Amendment, Respect for Life, Voter Issues, Constitutional Studies, Second Amendment Rights and Preparedness. The mission of Citizens Acting for Liberty is to empower citizens by providing them with the information and tools necessary to understand, actively participate in and take ownership of their responsibilities as a citizen of Lake County and the State of Montana.

LCPHD closed
The Lake County Public Health Department will be closed to patient services on May 11th. The Tuesday afternoon walk-in clinic will not be available on that day.
Chasing the Light
"Chasing the Light" by Jay Cross will be the next Mission Mountain Audubon program at 7 p.m. on May 11 in the Polson City Library Meeting Room. Everyone is welome.
Polson photographer Jay Cross will present a slide show of his natural landscape and wildlife photographs as he pursues "perfect light" across Montana- from Glacier National Park and the Mission Valley to the Rocky Mountain Front and Yellowstone Park. New images include his recent journey to capture the mood and feeling of one of nature's great spectacles, the gathering of snow geese at Freezeout Lake.

Polson High School Driver Education Sign Up
Sign up for Polson High School's 2010 Summer Driver Education class will take place on May 12, 13 and 14, during school hours. This driver education session will begin on May 25, and end July 8, 2010. Criteria to get into the class is: in-district students first; year in school 2nd; and age 3rd. All interested high school students should sign up in the high school guidance office while exiting 8th grade students will have a separate sign up on May 17 only if there are openings. If you need more information, contact Harold Lair at 249-7258 and leave a message. Class size will be limited and those who are in the class must have a parent attend an informational meeting before the start of the first class session. Only students who can attend all classes should sign up as there is a strict attendance policy. Students involved in after-school activities, summer camps, etc., either should wait for the next class or check with the advisor as there is a strict attendance policy.
Polson rural fire board meeting
A Polson Rural Fire District Trustees Monthly Meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on May 12 at the Fairgrounds Fire Station.
NARFE meeting
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees will host their May meeting at noon on May 12 at the Ronan senior citizen center. Taco soup is available for lunch.
After lunch there will be a program featuring Armond Aytassou, a junior at Ronan High School from the Republic of Kazakstan.
Following the program there will be a business meeting led by Chapter 1744 President Byran River.

Masumola Club
meeting
The Masumola Club meeting will be held Thursday, May 13, at the Clubhouse. The social gathering begins at 5:45 p.m., potluck at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7 p.m. The program will feature a presentation about a recent trip to China.
The clubhouse is located on Masumola Road. Turn onto Rocky Point off of US Highway 93 and after the 3-mile marker turn right onto Masumola Road. Anyone in the community of Polson and the surrounding area is invited to attend this meeting as a guest or to join the club and enjoy friendship, meetings and interesting programs. The only requirement for new guests is to bring your own utensils and a dish to pass if you wish. For membership information contact Irene Marchello at 406-883-6184.
Clotheline Project
The Clothesline Project, an annual event sponsored by the CSKT Victim Assistance Program, DOVES (Domestic Violence Education & Services), and SAFE Harbor, will take place this year in conjunction with the Women 4 Wellness Health Fair on Thursday, May 13th at the Joe McDonald Activity Center on the SKC campus.
The CSKT Victim Assistance Program and DOVES are domestic violence victim advocacy organizations serving Lake County and the Flathead Reservation, and SAFE Harbor is the area's domestic violence shelter.
As a public display, The Clothesline Project documents the brutality and lethality of violence against women and children. Shirts are used as canvases for artistic and heartfelt expressions that depict both the pain and horror of abuse and violence in the lives of families. All shirts displayed have been made by residents of Lake County and the Flathead Reservation.
Shirts will be displayed in the Activity Center, and blank shirts and decorating mediums will be available for those who want to contribute to the ongoing collection.
