Ronan-St. Ignatius track
MISSOULA - The Ronan-St. Ignatius girls' track and field team had two good days of competition in a row, competing last Friday at Missoula Big Sky and Saturday at Whitefish.
On Friday, students got to do some events they were interested but hadn't been able to previously fit into their schedules, coach Crystal Pitts said.
Junior Adessa Durglo threw the shot put 27-3. Junior LaGlen Mitchell jumped a 4-4 and ran the 200-meter race in 30.4 seconds. Freshman Victoria Crenshaw ran the 400 for the first time this season in 69.9. Sophomore Jenny Larsson threw the discus 68-9. Sophomore Taylor Cullen posted a personal best in the 300 hurdles with a time of 55.6.
At Saturday's meet at Whitefish, Larsson improved her shot put throw from the previous day with a personal best at 93-10 and jumped her season best in the long jump at 13-1.
Durglo made a strong showing in her events. She placed second in the long jump with a jump of 15-10 1/4 and third in the high jump with 4-10.
Sophomore Christina Williams ran the 800 in 2:47 and finished the 1600 in 6:07. Crenshaw ran the 800 in 2:51 and completed her 1600 in 6:31.
"[Junior] Mackenzie Trudeau continues to improve in the sprints with a personal best in the 100 meters," Pitts said of Trudeau's 13.95 finish at Whitefish and improvement in the 200, shaving a tenth of a second off of her Friday time for a 29.3 finish on Saturday.
Freshman Mariah Cheff posted some improved marks with 28-3 in the triple jump on Saturday in addition to running a personal best of 19.7 in the 100 hurdles and a 58.7 in the 300 hurdles.
Sophomore Twyla Hogge threw the discus 83-1 at Whitefish and threw the shot put 28-6.
In the 1600 relay, Trudeau, Mitchell, Williams and Durglo placed fifth with a time of 4:34. In the 400 relay, those same girls improved on their Friday time of 55.19 and beat the St. Ignatius school record by a tenth of a second with a 54.13. This earned them sixth place at Whitefish.
On Friday night, the boys' 400 relay team finished second with a time of 47.39
The boys finished 14th out of 16 teams at Whitefish. Junior Jordan Franklin placed sixth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.56 and fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.96.
