Lake County Job Service Employers' Committee (JSEC) Chairperson, Theresa Jones presented the 2010 Ken Rohrenbach Scholarship to Arlee graduate, Moriah Hoskinson, on Tuesday, April 20.

Hoskinson has demonstrated impressive determination and fortitude throughout her high school career, which has only lasted three years. Because of her hard work, she is graduating a year early from Arlee High School.

"I'm ready to get out and do my own thing," she said.

She has shown commitment not only to her studies, but to outside activities as well.

Hoskinson's school activities have included Drama Club, with three lead roles, manager for varsity teams and Student Government. Her teachers call her a role model for her peers. Hoskinson's volunteer activities have included food drives and serving at community meals. Most of her work experience as well as volunteer work has been in the food service industry, which ultimately fueled her love for cooking.

Hoskinson's goal is to attend the University of Montana, College of Technology to earn an Associate's Degree in Food Service Management. She then plans to continue her education at The Culinary Institute of Western ID to specialize in "Baking and Pastry." In addition to becoming a professional Baking and Pastry Chef, Moriah would like to open her own bakery in her hometown, Arlee. "The people and town of Arlee have helped me all throughout my life. I cannot help but want to give back to them!"

Moriah has also been nominated for the state-wide Fred Unmack Scholarship, which is still to be determined.
