Constitution overview
Brushfires of Freedom is hosting a two hour overview of the United States Constitution. Please join us for a special presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Garden of the Rockies Museum meeting room, located at 400 Round Butte Road West, in Ronan.

Drug presentation
There will be a presentation on drug use in Montana from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 in the Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Auditorium on the Salish Kootenai College campus as presented by Lake County Public Health.
Casey and Eddy Rudd will present on the topic in order to raise awareness of the drug culture as well as educate on alternative ways to reach drug users.

Arlee farmers’ market
The Arlee CDC and Jocko Valley farmers’ market will host a celebration of our final market on Oct. 1 on Highway 93 between Rick’s Kustom Kut and the Hangin’ Art Gallery. The celebration includes a Jocko Valley Jam blue grass festival. Also performing will be The Gravely Mountain Boys and The Black Mountain Boys covering a wide range of bluegrass music.

Jam session and dance
The Northwest Accordian Association will have a jam session and dance from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the Polson Elks club. Everyone is welcome.
Monday, Oct. 4
Town hall meeting
The Flathead Reservation Life Link Project and the Lake County Time 4 Change Coalition, in partnership with Strategic Prevention Solutions, are organizations that are dedicated to reducing underage drinking and drinking and driving for healthy, happy communities.
There will be a town hall meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the Camas room of the Joe McDonald Fitness Center to hear what solutions are being offered in our area to help combat underage drinking and drinking and driving.
We would also like to have input from the community on what strategies they feel are working well and how we can collaborate more effectively to reduce substance abuse in our area.

Fall youth banquet
American Legion Post No. 112 in Polson is hosting its Fall Youth Banquet on Oct. 4, 6:30 pm at the VFW Hall in Polson. All Legion Members and Auxiliary are invited. The Banquet recognizes 2010 Oratorical Contest winners, Boys and Girls State Delegates and the Mission Valley Mariners baseball teams.

Transportation
committee meeting
The Lake County School Transportation Committee will be meeting at 10 a.m. on Oct. 5 in the large conference room of the Lake County Courthouse. Adjustments needed in bus routes will be discussed. Guests are welcome.
MVBCH meeting
The October meeting of the Mission Valley Back County Horsemen will be at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the VFW Hall on Round Butte Road in Ronan. Discussion of this past summer’s activities and planning of our annual Christmas party will be on the agenda for the evening. Guests are always welcome. Breast health
As part of Breast Health Awareness Month, St. Joseph Medical Center is pleased to invite you to our October “Doc Talk” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 6 at 6-13th Ave. E. (off of Main Street) in Polson. The talk will feature Dr. Jamie Straub, OB/GYN, Dr. Rachel DePuy, Board Certified General Surgeon and Terri Carns, Supervisor of Diagnostic Radiology. The seminar will focus on the A-to-Z of breast health, from screening to treatment to reconstructive surgery. We encourage you to bring your daughters, sisters, mothers and friends. Seminar will be held in the lobby at St. Joseph Medical Center on Wednesday, October 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Elks dance
Frolic into fall with your favorite dance partner at the community dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Elks club. Tunes will be played by Heart to Heart, the best band around. Refreshments are served and there is always someone to dance with.
