We had 80 people join us for dinner at the center last Friday. It was our monthly birthday dinner, and I am sure the cooler weather encouraged people to get out and enjoy the day.
We had a very large donation of Tulip bulbs from Marilyn Dolezal's daughter. They came from Texas, and if you would like some, come on in and get them. We're told that if you plant them this fall, they may not bloom well next spring, but should do great in the following years.
We have had several visitors at the center this past month, and are glad that you came to join us. Please feel free to come again. We are open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the noon meal, and on the second Thursday of the month for our evening meal at 5 p.m. Our next evening meal will be on Sept. 9 and we will be serving chicken.
Since Labor Day falls on the first Monday of the month, we will be closed. Our board meeting has been re-scheduled for the following Monday.
We would like to welcome our new cook, Lori Charette, and to thank Kathy Kimmel for all of her hard work

With Martha Swonson: Melon Days is over once again. I am always amazed at the cars lined up all along the highway through town and into the field and side roads, waiting for our parade! There's something homey about seeing the Shriners, horseback riders and other participants, throwing candy or passing out voting information about our political candidates. And, of course, our proud emergency vehicles. The roast beef dinner at the Senior Center was most delicious, as usual. There are folks we see just this one time a year...and that's part of the fun. We greatly appreciate all the workers who helped put this annual event together again. Of course the melons were an important part of the day!
Along with this too-soon fall weather is the return of the monthly dances held at the center. The first dance will be from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 24. Please pass the word around to your dancing/listening friends, that we're starting up again!
Also coming up will be a safe driving class for all licensed drivers, sponsored by AARP. This is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9. You needn't be an AARP member to take this. There may be a reduction in your car insurance upon completion of the class. You may sign up at the Dixon Senior Center, or call me at 406-239-8638. We will need at least ten participants.
Menu: Thursday, Sept. 2, roast beef, peach cobbler; Monday, Sept. 6, no meal; Thursday, Sept. 9, enchiladas, corn fritters; Monday, Sept. 13, Polish sausage with sauerkraut, rhubarb upside down cake.
The center is open at 7 a.m. for breakfast, or lunch, stop by and let someone else cook and clean it up!
Have a safe Labor Day, and have fun at the Sanders County Fair!
